Book Tag: Seven Deadly Sins

June 11, 2017

It’s time for a book tag! This one is the Seven Deadly Sins tag, which I spotted over at The Literary Huntress. I wasn’t tagged, but I tend to be a bit of a tag thief – sorry!

GREED: What are your most expensive and inexpensive books?

The most expensive book on my shelf is probably the ACOWAR special edition, which I spent $20 or so on. I buy my books primarily on sale, or from Amazon or BookOutlet, so I rarely have to pay more than $12 per book. My most inexpensive books are definitely my horror mass markets (primarily Koontz and King), which I got from a thrift store for about $1 apiece.

SLOTH: What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?

Siege and Storm, the second book in the Grisha trilogy. I haven’t been in the mood for stupid Mal’s bullshit lately.

WRATH: Who is an author you have a love/hate relationship with?

Guys… don’t shoot me for this: JK Rowling. I absolutely adore the Potter series, love it more than words can describe, but I have no interest whatsoever in anything else that she writes (unless she ever writes a Marauders book), and she frustrates me to no end as a human being. I know people love how sassy and upfront she is on her twitter, and yeah, that aspect is fantastic, but I am so tired of her refusal to own up to the almost complete lack of diversity in the series, among other issues.

GLUTTONY: What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?

The book that I’ve reread the most from start to finish is probably either The Hunger Games, or Sharing Sam, but the book that I just pick up to reread snippets of here and there ALL THE TIME is definitely A Court of Mist and Fury. There are so many scenes in it with the inner circle that I just read on a whim when I need a pick-me-up. It’s like listening to my favorite song; instant mood-lifter.

LUST: What traits do you find attractive in fictional characters?

A good sense of humor, first and foremost. I’m also a sucker for the self-sacrificing character who doesn’t think he/she is “good enough”. I know it’s an overused trope, but it warms my little dark heart every time – especially if that character is a villain, whether they’re a bona fide Bad Guy™ or just kind of a morally grey type.

PRIDE: What book do you talk about in order to sound like an intelligent reader?

I don’t really think I have a book that fits this description. I mean, I love to analyze books all day long, and I suppose I most frequently do that with the Harry Potter series.

ENVY: What book would you like to receive as a gift?

I mean… any book on my wishlist, because who doesn’t like free books? Seriously though, I would probably say a beautiful leatherbound copy of The Hobbit.

Thanks for reading! I’m going to tag Novel DescentA Kernel of NonsenseThe Book Cover JudgeThe Bookish Libra, and A Thousand Lives of Frankie Lovely!

    1. fun tag! Great answers 🙂

Poor Mal … no one likes him lol … I don’t hate him but I really didn’t care much either.

A sense of humor is top trait for me too! If a character can make me laugh I will love them forever <3
Morally gray characters have a special place in my heart too <3

      Thanks for including me!

    1. YES! I so agree with you on JKR! After Potter, it was over for me. I didn’t want to read any sequels, prequels or other stories set in the same world. It always seemed like ‘milking the golden cow’ 😀 Not sure if this expression even exists in English? I translated it word by word from German haha.

I watched the Fantastic Beasts movie though and liked it. But only because I watch every Fantasy movie there is out there 😀

      1. Yes, exactly! Haha, we just say “milking the cow” generally, but I like your phrasing better! I did also enjoy the Fantastic Beasts movie, though a lot of that is because I love Eddie Redmayne.

Say hello! ♥
