The “Who I Am” Tag!

July 9, 2017

I saw this tag over at Louise Loves Books, and I personally love getting to know my fellow bloggers in totally non-book-related ways. Of course, I love learning about you guys’ likes and dislikes in the literary world, but it’s also so much fun to get to know who you guys are as people! The blogger behind the blog, if you will.

Some of these are actually based on science, while others are just fun. 🙂

What is the meaning behind my name?

My name is Destiny, which is pretty self-explanatory: according to behindthename.com, it means:

Means simply “destiny, fate” from the English word, ultimately from Latin destinare “to determine”, a derivative of stare “to stand”.

My blog name is Howling Libraries, which is sort of a reference to a song, in a round-about way. One of my favorite musical groups ever is Of Monsters and Men, and they have an incredible song called ‘King and Lionheart’ (music video here). Part of the song’s lyrics say:

Howling ghosts they reappear
In mountains that are stacked with fear
But you’re a king and I’m a lionheart

I started using “howlingghosts” (and derivatives of it) as my usernames for things a few years ago, so “howling libraries” felt like a natural extension of that when I created my bookstagram.

What is my Myer-Briggs Personality Type?

I am an INFP, which is nicknamed “The Mediator”. INFP are idealists, and though we’re a bit on the shy side, we tend to be very good communicators.

What is my zodiac sign?

I am a proud Libra, and if you ask anyone who knows me well, they’ll tell you that I fit the Libra description one hundred percent. I tend to get very easily obsessed with justice and “righting wrongs”, but I can’t help it – ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been unable to look the other way when it comes to inequality and unfairness (probably why I naturally progressed into the mindset of an activist and a feminist).

Beyond the main trait of fairness, Libras tend to be very dependent on the people they love and trust, and we are obsessed with finding beauty in anything and everything we can. A Libra’s biggest drawback is that our affinity for equality can make us very indecisive because we always want to make the choice that benefits everyone, and that isn’t always an option.

What is my Hogwarts House?

GRYFFINDOR! The first time I was ever introduced to Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone, I knew I was a Gryffindor. I just knew it! I guess I was right, because I’ve taken so many sorting quizzes over the years, and I’ve never once received an answer other than Gryffindor.

What are my learning styles?

Visual 9
Aural 4
Read/Write 3
Kinesthetic 14

I have a kinesthetic learning preference, which means learning by “doing”. Helpful learning tips for people with a kinesthetic learning preference are to engage all senses while learning, try to go on field trips and tours, speak with lecturers who have real-life examples, and most of all, to attempt hands-on learning or learning through trial and error.

Am I right or left brain dominant?

I use my brain almost equally! I am 53% right-brained (which is the side for creativity, intuition, etc.), and 47% left-brained (which is the side for logic and strategy).

brain

What is my blood type?

O+! Yep, universal donor. I like to donate when I can, but I’ve had anemia since I was a pre-teen, so my iron counts are rarely high enough for them to accept my blood.

What career am I meant to have?

socialactivist

Which Divergent faction do you belong to?

dauntless

What does my birth order say about me?

The Firstborn

Stereotype: Natural leader, ambitious, responsible.
Why it’s true: The eldest, for a while, has no competition for time (or books or baby banter) with Mom and Dad. “There’s a benefit to all of that undiluted attention. A 2007 study in Norway showed that firstborns had two to three more IQ points than the next child,” says Frank J. Sulloway, Ph.D. Firstborns tend to be surrogate parents when other siblings arrive, hence their protective and responsible nature.
When it’s not: Parents can set high expectations for a first (or only) child. “When he feels like he has disappointed his parents or can’t measure up, he may veer off in another direction,” says Kevin Leman, Ph.D.

I’m an only child, so I feel like there should be an “only child” option…

      1. Thank you! They really are. I love all of OMAM’s music, but those lyrics are some of my favorites of theirs. I also have lyrics from their song “Slow and Steady” tattooed on my arms. Nan and Raggi are such amazing lyricists.

    1. Wow, interesting! I’m going to do this tag on my blog too. 🙂 Thanks for sharing! (I’m also an INFP – but I’m definitely a loyal Hufflepuff, probably in the Amity faction hahah!) I normally post tags and other random stuff on Saturday/Sunday, so I’ll post it next weekend. 🙂

    1. OOO>> I loved this post so much and I agree with you it is always so fun getting to know people behind the blogs. I am really surprised with your inspiration for your blog name but I love it even more now knowing the inspiration behind it.

    1. I love this tag!! I have started it, but I haven’t finished it yet since there is a lot to it, and I have been on hiatus from my blog, but I need to get to it soon! So much fun!

        1. Thanks!! I just need to make time to finish it, lol. I know my personality type, blood type, and astrological sign but not the other stuff! Will be fun for me too!

I’m so behind on everything since I was on hiatus for 2 weeks sick. I think I have 9 book reviews to do, and I never got my Final Girls review written, lol. I was too busy with my tag and dealing with teenage drama ? I hope to get it later, after I wake up if I ever go to bed since I wanted it posted on publication day, lol.

            1. Today was a icky day but I’m getting there! I need to write a review for Friday but ugh…I’m too behind on my reading too, lol. And the book I read was so weird, idk what to say lol!!

            1. Oh nooooo! Okay, so, I have this theory that books fall into one of three categories for reviewers:

              1. “I loved it so much that I need to tell the world!”
              2. “I hated it so much that I have to rant about it!”
              3. “… well, what the hell do I even SAY about that?”

?? Good luck, and feel better!

Say hello! ♥
