Diversity Spotlight Thursday #3

August 17, 2017

The goal of this meme is to take a moment every Thursday to highlight 3 diverse books: one from your TBR, one you read and enjoyed, and one that’s not yet released!

I want to give you guys an idea of the rep each book offers, but with books that are still on my TBR, I’ll have to make the best educated guesses I can. If I ever make an error or miss something, please let me know in a comment so I can fix it right away! Also, while I will try my best, I obviously cannot guarantee that any books listed for my “TBR picks” will be without problems, so please proceed with discretion!

1. TBR pick:

Queens of Geek – Jen Wilde

This book has been on my TBR for what feels like forever, and I honestly don’t have a clue as to why I haven’t read it yet. Everyone seems to love it, I’ve been told it’s absolutely freaking adorable, it’s about geeky girls (*raises hand*) and, hello, there is PINK HAIR on the cover. Pink hair? Anyone? *gestures to self* BRB while I go order a copy ASAP.

Reps: autistic, bi, asian, fat, latinx

2. Book you enjoyed:

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue – Mackenzi Lee

29283884

This is a fairly new release, and I actually broke my book buying ban to grab a copy of this one last month because I had heard so many good things about it! I completely adored it. I thought it was fun, sweet, silly, and even nervewracking at times. It’s not just an m/m romance; it’s also a story of shenanigans and adventure and a swashbuckling good time (heh). You can read my review here!

Reps: biracial, bi, unconfirmed(?) ace, disability (epilepsy)

3. Unreleased title:

Girls Made of Snow and Glass – Melissa Bashardoust

Technically, this is another one of those #2/#3 dual titles, because I did get to read an ARC of this book earlier this month and really enjoyed it! (Review here if you’re interested.) While the rep in this book is not heavy-handed at all, it is present and positive, so I’ll still recommend it on this list!

Reps: lesbian, WOC

    1. Interesting books. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue sounds interesting. I’ll add that to my to-read pile.

    1. I LOVE this series! Also I have the exact same thoughts as you on all of these: I NEED to read Queens of Geek right now (what have I been doing with my life), Gentleman’s Guide was amazing, and I’m super highly anticipating Girls Made of Snow and Glass (even though you’ve already gotten to read that one I’m jealous).

Say hello! ♥
