The NetGalley Tag

September 17, 2017

I’m cheating a little (as usual when it comes to a lot of these), because I wasn’t tagged. I’m being a filthy tag klepto again. So, sue me! (Don’t really. I’m broke. I spend all of my money on books.)

Anyways, I “borrowed” this tag from Kathy over at Books & Munches. In my defense, she left it open to anyone who wanted to use it, and besides, it gives me a good excuse to tell you guys that you should go check out her blog right now, because she posts some seriously quality content and also, she adds photos of tasty snacks to her reviews.

RULES:

1. Link back to the tag’s creator: Kourtni at Kourtni Reads.
2. Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
3. Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
4. Tag a few people to do this too!

AUTO-APPROVED:

Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

Sarah J Maas, Maggie Stiefvater, Jay Kristoff, Joe Hill… wait, one author? *sighs*

REQUEST:

What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

I’ll be honest and admit that covers are always the first thing I look at. I am a shameless cover buyer/requester. I also look at the author, and the synopsis, which is the ultimate decision-making tool as to whether or not I’ll send in a request. I also do consider the release date, because if it’s a book that I’m not 100% freaking pumped!! for, and it releases in, like, four days? Nah.

FEEDBACK RATIO:

Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

I do! The only incredibly rare exception to this rule is if the book was a graphic novel that I somehow had nothing to say about. Otherwise, I’ll post a review, even if it’s only a paragraph long. If I DNFed a book, I also still review it with my thoughts, but I won’t give it a star rating unless I read at least 30% of it.

BADGES:

If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

Probably the “good intentions” badge. It would mean, “I know my ratio isn’t as high as it should be, but in my defense, I didn’t think I would get approved for all of these! I swear I’m reading them as fast as I can! *drowning noises*”

WISH FOR IT:

What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

The Hazel Wood. My poor fiance and mother have both had to listen to me whining about this book for a solid three months. I’ve requested it but haven’t been approved yet and I am just positively DYINGGGG to read it. I really would love a print ARC so I can take lovely photos and show it off, but at this point, I’d be totally content with an ebook!

2017 NETGALLEY CHALLENGE:

What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

My last ARC review was for Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman, and you can read that 5-star review here. I’ve reviewed two “review copy” titles since then, but both of those were finished copies.
