Diversity Spotlight Thursday #7

The goal of this meme is to take a moment every Thursday to highlight 3 diverse books: one from your TBR, one you read and enjoyed, and one that’s not yet released!

I want to give you guys an idea of the rep each book offers, but with books that are still on my TBR, I’ll have to make the best educated guesses I can. If I ever make an error or miss something, please let me know in a comment so I can fix it right away! Also, while I will try my best, I obviously cannot guarantee that any books listed for my “TBR picks” will be without problems, so please proceed with discretion!

1. TBR pick:

The Foxhole Court – Nora Sakavic

17259690

I’ll be totally upfront with you guys: I swore I wouldn’t read these books when I saw them on Goodreads because the cover is SO BAD that I thought for sure it had to be some really terrible indie $0.99 kindle book that probably had 2.3 stars as its average rating. NOPE. A handful of my friends have raved about this series to me, so I grabbed the first copy on my kindle and do plan on reading it soon!

Reps: gay, demi

2. Book you enjoyed:

Now I Rise – Kiersten White

22817331

I feel like I never shut up about this series, but it’s so damn good, and Now I Rise has been one of my favorite reads all year long – partially due to the incredible lgbtq+ rep in it! There is a ship in this book that is so gay and so adorable and I am so here for it! (If you’ve read the book, you probably know EXACTLY who I’m talking about <3)

Reps: gay, lesbian, bi (implied)

3. Unreleased title:

Like Water – Rebecca Podos

(Releases Oct 17, 2017)

I only learned about this upcoming title pretty recently, and from what I’ve gathered, it’s essentially a first love story about two young women who fall for one another. There’s also some disabled rep with the MC’s father, and I’m hearing rave reviews about it from ARC reviewers. I’ll definitely be grabbing a copy of this one soon!

Reps: lesbian, bi (I think?), disability

  2. Like Water has a genderqueer love interest I believe. I’ve started it and am currently loving it, but I haven’t gotten to the point where that character is introduced.

I tried the Foxhole Court, but it wasn’t for me. I’m a sports person and there’s only so much I can buy into with the creation of new sports 😂. Exy made zero sense to me.
