Down the TBR Hole #2

October 15, 2017

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story, and is a super fun (and simultaneously productive) tag to help you whittle away at those never-ending TBRs! (By the way, you can click on the covers to go to the Goodreads listings!)

I decided to do 10 books per post instead of 5, otherwise we will literally never finish this meme series. EVER.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 988 titles

Book 6:

Date added to shelf: April 30, 2013

I’m literally only leaving this one on my shelf because I own a copy of this book, and I don’t feel like unhauling it, but I honestly don’t think I’m going to fall in love with this series. 🙁

The judgement: KEEP (reluctantly)

Book 7:

Date added to shelf: Aug 10, 2013

I added this back when I loved all things contemporary, but lately, I’m not in much of a contemporary mood at all. That said, I own a copy of this one, too, so I’ll leave it.

The judgement: KEEP (reluctantly)

Book 8:

Date added to shelf: Aug 10, 2013

I’m pretty sure I added this strictly based on the title, and I’m leaving it strictly based on the title. I love campy/silly/humorous zombie films, but I’ve never seen it done in book form.

The judgement: KEEP

Book 9:

176556.jpg

Date added to shelf: Aug 17, 2013

I’ve actually read this, but I think I forgot to ever update that fact. In case I haven’t mentioned this before, I went through a year or so spell after creating my GR account where I never logged my reading progress. *collective gasps of horror*

The judgement: REMOVE (finally!)

Book 10:

7541858.jpg

Date added to shelf: Aug 19, 2013

I have been meaning to read Cassandra’s books for aaaaages (since much earlier than 2013, I can assure you of that!), and I finally purchased a copy of this book in one of my latest BookOutlet hauls.

The judgement: KEEP

Book 11:

19581.jpg

Date added to shelf: Oct 10, 2013

I’ve been meaning to read this horror story for ages, and actually picked up an ebook copy of it just a few weeks ago.

The judgement: KEEP

Book 12:

32626

Date added to shelf: Oct 10, 2013

I’ve never read anything at all by Clive Barker (I know, I’m shocked, too!), and I feel like it’s a rite of passage to at least try his books.

The judgement: KEEP

Book 13:

11500217

Date added to shelf: Oct 13, 2013

I know a lot of people who love this series very much, plus I got the ebook for $2 last month.

The judgement: KEEP

Book 14:

6605625

Date added to shelf: Nov 3, 2013

I think I must have added this during my zombie obsession phase, but it doesn’t sound like anything special now.

The judgement: REMOVE

Book 15:

4736504

Date added to shelf: Dec 6, 2013

This is basically a non-fiction set of essays from other authors about Ellen’s work, plus some “behind the scenes” action with Ellen herself. She used to be my favorite author, but her books leave me feeling a bit conflicted at times now.

The judgement: REMOVE

 REMOVAL PERCENTAGE THIS WEEK: 30%

    1. The City of Bones series is one I’m hoping to read this year, but considering my reading load for school, I don’t know if I’ll get to it… we will see.
Wooo! Finally some removals ^_^ Progress has been made lol.

    1. I loved Anna and the French Kiss when I read it years ago, but I can definitely see why some people don’t love it so much now. It’s definitely got that debut novel feel to it which could turn people off.

      1. I think my problem is just mainly that I have a hard time getting into the “fluffy” contemporary titles nowadays! I used to adore them, but I tend to get bored a little bit easily with them now. I definitely do want to give Anna and the French Kiss a try, though.

    1. So glad I found this! It’s something I definitely need to do with my TBR.

Say hello! ♥
