August 28, 2018

The results are in, and here are the votes:

I can’t promise that I’ll follow these results in EXACT order, but I’m going to try my best! I already have a buddy read planned in October for The Scorpio Races, which means I need to hurry up and read Winter and Shatter Me in September!

TTT-Big2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s prompt was a back to school freebie, which made me think about assigned reading lists, which reminded me of my “Must Read in 2018” list.

I created a list of 24 books to read in 2018, and so far, I’ve only completed 12 of them. The good news is that there’s still a lot of 2018 left!

Since there are 12 books left on my list, this will be a Top 12 Tuesday instead of a Top 10 Tuesday!

At the end of the post, please VOTE on the poll or COMMENT and let me know at least TWO (2) books I should prioritize first from this list!

I’ll tally up the votes after a week or two, and go in order of you guys’ votes! ♥

The poll is officially CLOSED!

    1. Destiny ,,, the foxhole court ,, please its so iconic
Also, I really enjoyed Shatter Me and it’s a SUPER quick read so there’s that too
I’m reading the Thief right now, and it’s okay, but I do know its one of those series you gotta invest in even if you don’t love book one because the series just gets better and better

      1. I’m marking your votes down for Shatter Me and TFC! Those are the 2 on the list that I feel like I’m most LIKELY to find time for soon, because they both looked like short reads (esp Shatter Me like you said). I’m sorry you’re not loving The Thief! Everyone I’ve talked to about that series lately has said the same thing you said, that you have to basically push through book 1 to continue and get better books.

        1. I already voted on the poll but YES mark me down twice for tfc it’s what it deserves. I read Shatter Me in one day it’s great. TFC is the worst book in the series but it’s still good, but the next two are god tier. And yeah it’s ok I haven’t read much of the thief so it could still pick up! But I expected this coming into it anyway so it’s ok

    1. It Ends With Us (heavy trigger warnings for abuse) and Shatter Me! Shatter Me isn’t the best but the series is absolutely amazing and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

      1. Thank you, lovely! ♥ And thank you so much for the TW. I’ve only ever read one CoHo book and it basically destroyed my whole soul so I pretty much have accepted the idea of all of her other books potentially doing the same thing. ? I’m definitely going to wait on IEWU until I’m in the right head space for it, though.

    1. the only one I have read from this list is The Mime order. I thought it was pretty good a little slow to start with just like the first book but really picked up later on. I do really want to read the shatter me series though! 🙂

    1. Please leave the thief… Hell we can buddy read it so we aren’t the arent alone in being looked down on in not ever having read it before …. Or just so I don’t feel stupid

          1. Haha exactly! I want to read Fairest before Winter (I had put Winter on the list in an effort to force myself to read both, lmao), and I just saw that my library has the audiobook for Fairest with no hold time, so I might listen to it today while I clean.

            1. Fairest isn’t that big; you’ll fly through it!
That’s one of the series I could finish without any issue – as far as I remember. Maybe it’s wishful remembering, haha.

            1. No sadly I haven’t had a chance to listen to any audiobooks at all in the last few days! Plus, I’ve been prioritizing books that I’ll actually review soon, because I don’t think I’ll post a review for Fairest until… November? December? Yikes. 😀

            1. I’m jealous of your reviewing game right now – seriously. I’ve scheduled all my reviews so far and September’s filled but after that? NOPE.
Worst thing is how I usually don’t review sequels on my blog so unless I don’t want any reviews in October, I’ll need to change that. [Although a review for HPD is a given, AND fits the theme, so there’s that!]

            1. Oh, I don’t know if jealous is what you want to be right now… I have them PLANNED, but not SCHEDULED. I still have to read the books and write the reviews. ? I’m just trying a new thing where I map out what days I want to have each review ready by, so it holds me accountable. It also ruins any chance at all of mood reading, sadly. 🙁 But I’ve pretty much told myself it’s just the price I have to pay for over-committing! (Obviously, I’m not gonna beat myself up if I miss one or two, though)

            1. Hahaha. Yeah, okay, fair enough. But you read like a train so that shouldn’t be a problem AT ALL!
I guess it’s also a bit of a “lesson learned” at this point. No mood-reading at all SUCKS big time. I’m glad I can still do some mood-reading, although I do have to get a move on the reads I want to review in October.. :’)

            1. Yes, it definitely is a lesson learned! I really hope I can do some mood reading in October. At least, if nothing else, I should be able to do a good bit of mood reading in November and December, since November through February are usually slow release months!

            1. Whoop! See – at least you have that to look forward to! I haven’t even checked any upcoming releases – let alone debut authors releasing their first novel in the upcoming months. I haven’t even checked out NetGalley properly yet lately – which is a miracle! Trying to keep it that way since it means I’ll automatically read more of my own books, haha. But I can already feel myself peeking at NG once in a while. Guess it’s only a matter of time before I’m on a requesting spree again. [Especially since I only have two books left to review?!]

            1. I just want to keep it up until the end of the year. I got challenges to kick the asses of, darnit! [And I’m failing at the one my boyfriend set me, which actually has a PRIZE so I need to get moving. :’)]

            1. Serioulsy – DO IT. I’m already planning on asking him to do the same again for next year. That way we can encourage and remind one another and MAKE THOSE MEN PAY DARNIT. :’D

    1. I shall certainly vote because it looks like you’ve got some hard choices! 🙂 I hope you manage to get to these books in 2018! 🙂 Certainly time left to!

      1. Thank you! 😀 I hope so, too. I’d really like to make another list like this in 2019 and actually put more effort into it – maybe making another list of 24 titles and then adding 2 from the list to each month’s TBR.

      1. Whoops, I think your comment came through twice! I’d already replied to your other, but I noticed in this one you said it’s one of the best you’ve read, and I had to tell you that it just made me WAY more excited to read it! ?

      1. Thank you for voting! ♥ I love Maggie’s writing and I really want to read it before the tarot deck for it comes out in case I need that to add to my collection alongside my Raven Cycle deck lol.

      1. Thank you! ♥ I feel like I hear a lot of conflicted reviews – but it does seem short, like you said, so at least it shouldn’t take long when I pick it up. Will you continue the series?

    1. Okay but you need to read Shutter for Halloween. It is so much fun and bit creepy! Winter obviously because you must finish the series. And The Mime Order because I still have to read that too haha.

      1. Ooooh, awesome! Thank you! TRC is my 2nd favorite series of all time so that makes me super excited about The Scorpio Races (not that I wasn’t before, but you know, haha).

    1. I remember reading The Long Walk years ago… I took it from my mom’s bookshelf and read it at night. I know you wanted two but I haven’t read any of the others yet.
Interesting take on this topic this week!

      1. Thank you, Brooke! That’s awesome – I love those books that we can remember exactly when we read them and what the circumstances were and everything. That’s like my first ever VC Andrews book, I remember sneaking it from my mom’s best friend’s purse. I was far too young to be reading it but the cover looked cool and my mom and her friend were talking in the other room. I ended up sneaking off to my room and reading half of it before the friend noticed it was missing, and at that point, she just let me finish it haha.

    1. Definitely The Thief. And I say that only because it leads to The Queen of Attolia, which is to this day one of the most complex, mind blowing books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. And it is so different from all other YA. I highly recommend that entire series in general.

    1. If you choose The Long Walk and/or The Scorpio Races, we have to buddy read!! 🙂 And now I’m thinking I might steal this idea from you, too (with credit of course)!

      1. Deal! I’d be down for buddy reading either (or both), so just let me know when you’re available. I can’t do it this week, but I think any time at all after this week should work fine for me. ♥ And yes, feel free!!

            1. Let me know when y’all decide to do it. 🙂 My friend Rachel (paceamorelibri) actually just recently lent me a copy, so I’ve got it handy!

      1. Dude I’m totally down for buddy reads of those! Sarah also asked to do a buddy read of The Scorpio Races, so maybe we could find a time that works for all 3 of us and do a group read!

    1. WINTEEEEEEEEEEEER. Sorry. Had to scream about that one, I just really love that ending to the series, it was so good – even if the book is massive, it was just SO GREAT. Hope you’ll read it soon 🙂

      1. Ohhh good! ☺️ Well I started Fairest earlier this week since I found out my library had the audiobook, and they have Winter too, so hopefully I’ll be starting it within the next week or two!

    1. Oof the only book here I have read is It Ends With Us, and I really hated it. So if there is a vote for books you shouldn’t waste your time on, I vote that one 🙂 However if you still want to read it that’s obviously okay! I vote for Winter, because even though I haven’t read it I adore that series and love encouraging people to read it 🙂

      1. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy It Ends With Us! That is one I will definitely be trying for myself so hopefully I’ll enjoy it more! And yes, TLC is honestly such a good series. I can’t believe I haven’t finished it!

    1. It Ends With Us (caught me totally off guard, but looks like the TW’s have been mentioned above), and The Foxhole Court. One I loved and one that could be a buddy read. I was going to say Shatter Me, but you know how I feel about that damn book. 😉

        1. Awesome! I know you’ve got the more hectic reading schedule so let me know when you plan on working that bad boy in! =D

    1. My vote is for Traitor’s Blade and Name of the Wind. Though, with NotW, there’s no telling when the author will actually get around to continuing the series, so don’t prioritize it. Traitor’s Blade is definity brilliant though, you have to try it!

      1. Oof, very true. That’s the biggest reason I haven’t started NOTW yet. Thank you for the votes! And I am super eager to read Traitor’s Blade as I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews!

        1. It’s quite bleak indeed. But dystopia is one of my favourites, and love Stephen King too, so for me that was a highly enjoyable book.

    1. It Ends with Us and The Scorpio Races!! there are actually a few more on here I think you should read [HOW HAVE YOU STILL NOT READ WINTER. DESTINY WHY] but I feel like you are going to LOVE both of us. The Scorpio Races is one of Maggie’s most Maggie books and it’s great; It Ends With Us is just fucking outstanding and deals with abuse in such an emotionally real way.

      1. I have no idea why I haven’t read Winter yet, please don’t hate me ?? Lmao seriously though, thank you for the votes! I am planning a group read with a couple of people in October for The Scorpio Races and It Ends With Us, I’m just going to have to pick a day and MAKE time for it!

    1. Ah, I’m so late to this, but so many interesting-sounding books! I look forward to seeing what books you chose. 😀 Or, rather, were chosen for you?

Say hello! ♥
