December TBR: Readathons Everywhere!

December 3, 2018

The themes this month are…

  1. Short-a-thon — December 21st → 31st:
    • I’m saving my TBR for a little closer to the event’s beginning, so stay tuned~
  2. Diverse December:
    • Kathy’s theme this month is to focus on diverse reads, so I’ll be doing that as much as possible!
  3. Smutathon — December 10th → 16th:
    • I’m not sure how many reads I’ll knock out for this, so it’s going under “optional TBR” picks!
  4. Tis the Season-a-thon — December 3rd → 9th:
    • I won’t be able to work on the prompts for this one too much, sadly, but I will be joining in the group read!
  5. Fall TBR catch-up:
    • I’m still hoping to finish my fall TBR before posting my winter TBR later this month, but these are going under “optional” reads!
Instead of clicking the titles for Goodreads links, you can view a Goodreads shelf of my entire month’s TBR here, or the optional TBR here!

Now, on to my TBR!

OPTIONAL TBR

Smutathon:

If you didn’t guess from the title, #Smutathon is a readathon dedicated to romance books! I’m not 100% certain I’ll get to fill all of the prompts, but I’m gonna try!

  • enemies to lovers: Hate to Want You — Alisha Rai ?✨
  • friends with benefits: Ugly Love — Colleen Hoover

    • The 7th prompt hasn’t been announced at the time I’m writing this, but I’m hoping the “workplace romance” trope will win the poll.

Monthly Goals

  1. More gaming! I know this was one of my November goals, too, and while I did succeed a little bit, I want to focus even more on self-care and relaxing with some fun video games this month.
  2. Reading as many ARCs as possible before Shortathon starts! Ideally, I’d like to ONLY be reading short things after the 21st, with the exception of the month long NOS4A2 group read I’m taking part in.

What books on your December TBR are you most excited to read? Will you be joining us for Short-a-thon?

    1. I wish I didn’t have my end-sem exams or I would have totally participated in these readathons. They sound amazing and so do your TBRs! I’ll be reading The Gilded Wolves this month and so looking forward to it. Good luck with all the goals, hope you play more video games and read more ARCs is a goal we’re all chasing, haha 😀

      1. Good luck with your exams!! School comes first, I totally understand <3 Thank you so much, and I hope you have time to fit in some great reads alongside your finals! The Gilded Wolves was so good, I just finished it literally a few minutes ago and loved it 🙂

    1. Ooh I love your fancy new TBR photo. Your aesthetic pleases me greatly. I hope you have a good December with all of your readathons haha. I’m trying to take a more relaxed approach to the end of the year and just reading whatever books I want to catch up with, I do also want to do some more gaming this month (non-Sims related gaming ahah) as well!

    1. What games are you planning on playing? My husband and I are playing Fallout 46. We tried playing Thea 2, but it was too Early Access if you know what I mean.

      1. Haha I know exactly what you mean! How are you liking Fallout? I’ve only ever played 3 and 4, and enjoyed them pretty well. Lately I’m mostly just playing kind of stress-free stuff like Stardew Valley. I also have a really weird affinity for time management games so I renewed my GameHouse.com subscription a few days ago and have been re-playing some old favorites. 🙂

        1. It’s my first Fallout game. I’ve enjoyed it, but it’s hard finding time to play and really immerse myself with a two-year-old running around. My husband and I played in the multiplayer beta for Stardew Valley back in May. We had a blast! Although, we did think it ironic we were so gung-ho about doing “farm” chores while our actual chores piled up IRL. ?

          1. Oh, I know that feeling haha! It is so hard to game with wild toddlers in the house. 🙂 Also, LMAO at doing farm chores while avoiding real chores, because WOW, relatable ???

    1. Smutathon looks awesome, Pennies by Pepper Winters is one of my favorite books of all time. The series was amazing and highly addicting, I hope you get around to it.

    1. you’re a superhero. good luck, hope your december is fantasticcc

    1. I’m currently reading The Girl King and.. I don’t remember any of it anymore since it’s been a few days since I picked it up and wasn’t that far along in it anyway. Oh! I do remember one of the MC’s being totally badass, in my opinion! Haha.
Hoping to get to The Gilded Wolves soon as well.. I feel like I’m going to fail at sticking to my TBR this month because of all the ARC’s I’m supposed to read before January comes around.. :/ And NO WAY am I going to let that ruin the short-a-thon. [I’m seriously considering getting behind on ARC’s for the first time ever because I feel like reading what i want, haha.]
Happy reading to youu! [And I hope you love Merry Inkmas!]

      1. Lmao! Well, it doesn’t sound SUPER promising that it isn’t memorable yet, but I am glad to hear that one of the MCs is a badass. 😀
The Gilded Wolves ended up being a really fun read by the end of it, and the characters are super lovable, so I hope you get the chance to read it in time! I have faith in you! That said, if you get a little bit behind on ARCs for the sake of Short-a-thon, you can always catch up in January ♥

        1. Eh, I’m thinking the “not memorable” thing has more to do with my cozy / romantic mood when it comes to reading than anything else, haha! I’ve read over 60 pages since last night in The Girl King and I’m BACK IN BUSINESS. [for now.]
Yay! We’ll see how it goes. I’m trying to just follow my mood a bit since I noticed my hormones being all over the place when I start forcing myself to do stuff? I don’t know. I’m feeling weird. :’)

      1. Thank you! 🙂 I’ve always liked making monthly TBRs, but this is only the 2nd month that I’m dividing it up into categories like this and I really like doing it this way.

Say hello! ♥
