It’s time for a weekly check-in!
Wow, when is the last time I posted on a Sunday? 😅 I’ve been trying to write this post since Wednesday night and it just keeps… not happening, idk. The brain wasn’t having it. But we’re here now! It’s been a pretty alright week. I spent part of it sick thanks to food poisoning and my sinuses are unhappy with the storm pressure we’ve had this weekend, but I got put on a fun new temporary project at work and I’ve been playing a lot of video games while listening to audiobooks, so I can’t complain. How was your week?
This week held a lot of mood reading! One of my 2024 goals is to mood read more, so it feels like a good start: Blurred Lines, Horror House of Perversion, and The Vet were all mood reads (and in fact, they were all books I picked up immediately upon hearing about them, which I NEVER do!). My Roommate is a Vampire was so much cuter than I expected and I honestly don’t understand why it has such poor ratings. 😅
- Blurred Lines // Andi Jaxon → ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- My Roommate is a Vampire // Jenna Levine → ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Horror House of Perversion // Carl John Lee → ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Clown in a Cornfield // Adam Cesare → ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- The Vet // Candace Nola → ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📚 current reads 📚
Lol my caption here last week was like “only two books, what?!” so of course I had to up it to my max again this week. 😂 I should hopefully be finishing The Shuddering today, but I’ve got quite a while left on all the rest of these. But hey, I made progress on every single current read this week, which is one of my 2024 goals, so way to go me!
- Christmas and Other Horrors // Ellen Datlow → 19%
- The Shadow of What Was Lost // James Islington → 30%
- Dead Letters: Episodes of Epistolary Horror // Jacob Steven Mohr → 14%
- Slaying the Vampire Conqueror // Carissa Broadbent → 26%
- The Shuddering // Ania Ahlborn → 62%
- A Court of Silver Flames // Sarah J. Maas → 65%
I started playing Spirittea a few nights ago and got sucked into it enough to stay up until 4am playing it when I definitely should have been sleeping. 😅 It’s a cute little life sim game where you restore a bathhouse for spirits!
What are you reading right now, or what did you recently finish? Is anything exciting happening in your life? Let me know in the comments!

January 17, 2024How exactly does one read more than 1-2 books at a time, I’m curious?
I only have two in my current reading but one of them is kinda paused because I needed a break (it’s my first over 1k pages for a while), so I go with other reads “instead”, if that makes sense

January 17, 2024It’s interesting, I’ve never actively had that many books on my current reading list. How’s that to be done?
Enjoy them!

February 6, 2024I just switch back and forth between them all depending on what mood I’m in! 😀 Though I’m hoping to actually bring my current reads number down to 3 or 4 in the next week or two.
