ABOUT THE BOOK:

From an Aurora Award-winning author comes a new fantasy epic in which one mage must stand against a Deathless Goddess who controls all magic.

Imagine a world where magic has a face, a memory, and a will to live. That it’s rooted in a time and a place. Now imagine what happens when you set it loose in a world full of people who take it for granted.

In Tananen, a small, forbidden realm, the Deathless Goddess uses Her Gift—she summons magic. This deity is worshipped by the mage scribes who write spells for Her. If their intentions are flawed, though, the spells spawn gossamers—magical creatures who are as wild and free as they are costly. Each time they cast a spell, the mages quickly age. When the greatest mage in Tananen sets out to battle the deity, he begins to wonder if she was protecting the mages from more than he could have ever imagined.
