Spring 2022 TBR (and a look back at my winter progress)

March 21, 2022

It’s time for my Spring TBR!

I think I mentioned in my Winter TBR post a few months ago that I was feeling a little tentative about coming back to seasonal TBRs, but I really enjoyed working on my Winter list! I’m excited to start a new seasonal TBR full of super exciting reads!

winter ’22 tbr

  1. Where the Drowned Girls Go ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  2. ⌛ Dead Silence
  3. Gallant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  4. ⌛ The Shadow of the Gods
  5. Weather Girl ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  6. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me ⭐⭐💫
  7. ⌛ Delilah Green Doesn’t Care
  8. ⌛ A Court of Silver Flames
  9. Her Soul to Take ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  10. Waif ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I finished 6 out of 10 of my winter TBR picks and am currently reading the remaining 4, so I’d consider this mostly a success! I would have liked to have finished all of the books before today, but that’s okay. I’m about 75% through Dead Silence and hope to finish it today, and I’m pretty sure I can finish Delilah Green Doesn’t Care soon as well. The other two are pretty big books that I’m not very far into, but I’m enjoying them both very much, and SJM books are usually quick reads for me despite their page counts. I’m also amazed by how many of these have been 5-star reads for me!

I decided to be a bit more specific with the reasons I chose specific titles for this seasonal TBR, so I only allowed myself one randomly chosen “mood read”, and the rest will go towards other goals (2022 TBR, group reads, TBR jar picks, and review copies).

🌸 Book of Night // Holly Black review copy I am SO excited to read this, and honestly kind of can’t believe I haven’t read it already! I’ve been waiting sooo long for Holly to write a dark adult fantasy novel, and I hope this is everything I want it to be and more!

🌸Screams from the Dark // Ellen Datlowreview copy I’ve said it before and I’ll say it forever: Ellen Datlow is an absolute legend of an editor, and I’m rarely let down by the anthologies she puts together. Plus, I really, really love monster books.

🌸 Book Lovers // Emily Henry review copy + Hoemance Book Club → I loved Beach Read, but it’s still the only Emily Henry title I’ve read, so I can’t wait to fix that with Ellyn and Rebecca’s Hoemance Book Club!

🌸 Hands Down // Mariana ZapataHoemance Book Club I didn’t care much for The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, but when I found out this spin-off focuses on the only Winnipeg character I liked very much? I was sold.

🌸 Drag Me Up // R.M. Virtues Hoemance Book Club → I’ve never read anything by this author, but have heard SO much hype, and we do love a good Hades/Persephone retelling! Also, the author is Black and trans, Hades is Black and demi, and Persephone is Black and trans? DAMN! I love it already.

🌸 House of Earth and Blood // Sarah J. Maas 2022 TBR → One of my unofficial 2022 goals is to finally catch up on all of the exciting SJM releases that came out during my horrible slump, so I’m starting the Crescent City series this Spring as a buddy read with Sarah and Brooklynne!

🌸 The Taking of Jake Livingston // Ryan Douglass TBR jar → I prioritize reading 3 random TBR jar picks per month, and thought it would be fun to pick 3 for this seasonal TBR and then read one per month throughout the season! I’m really stoked for this creepy-sounding YA horror book.

🌸 Queen of Teeth // Hailey Piper TBR jar → Another unofficial 2022 goal is to catch up on Hailey’s stand-alone titles, and this is the one I’m most excited about! It sounds so twisted.

🌸 Grown // Tiffany D. Jackson TBR jar → I’ve heard a LOT of praise about this author’s books, but haven’t read any for myself yet, so I was stoked when this was my 3rd pick from the jar.

🌸 This is How You Lose the Time War // Amal El-Mohtar + Max Gladstone mood read → Every single time I pass this book on my shelf, I wonder why I haven’t read it yet, so here we are.

    1. So excited to get to Book of Night! I haven’t done my Spring list yet but it will definitely be on it😁

    1. I love seasonal TBRs! I wish I wasn’t such a mood reader. Maybe I’ll try to make an autumn TBR (it’s autumn now here), but I definitely want to read Book of Night soon. Happy reading!

    1. You did great on your winter TBR!
I hope you enjoy all the ones on your Spring TBR! I really want to read Book of Night as well!

    1. I can’t wait to hear what you think of Grown! I think its Tiffany’s most intense books and put me in a really weird headspace, but it was such a fantastic read.

    1. Good luck with your Spring TBR! 💕🌷 I still haven’t read House of Earth and Blood either (so behind on SJM releases), but I hope you enjoy it! This is How You Lose the Time War also sounds intriguing, but intimidates me at the same time, as I heard that it’s a bit complicated 👀

      1. Thank you! Oooh, I’ll have to let you know what I think as far as Time War being complicated, I hope it’s easy to follow 😂 I think it involves a lot of time travel, though, so I could see that!

    1. I have a Dutch copy of Book of the Night pre ordered. I am very curious! And The Shadow of the Gods is so good. Finish it soon.

    1. I’m not sure how I missed this post!! But I love your TBR! I have several on mine too but I hope you love Crescent City. 6 out of 10 is not bad at all!!
