Stacking the Shelves — March 22nd, 2019

March 22, 2019

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!

If you want to find out more about Stacking The Shelves, please visit the official launch page!

Physical Review Copies:

  • Wayward Sisters — Allison O’Toole
    • adult fantasy graphic novel anthology
      • This is a graphic novel anthology about “monstrous” women. SO HERE FOR THIS. And the cover is so gorgeous.
  • Shout Out — Andrew Wheeler
    • YA sci-fi graphic novel anthology
      • The same publisher who offered me Wayward Sisters offered this one, and I’m so excited because it’s a collection of queer authors writing queer stories!
  • These Witches Don’t Burn — Isabel Sterling
    • YA paranormal
      • This was actually a gift from the amazing Owl and I love them so much for this. ♥♥ It’s a book about QUEER WITCHY GIRLS?!?! *swoons*

NetGalley/Edelweiss Approvals:

  • Small Town Hearts — Lillie Vale
    • YA contemporary
      • I heard so many friends rave about this one that I had to grab it! It’s about a bi teen working in a small coastal Maine town who falls for a tourist (which is so against the rules).
  • Unnatural, Vol. 2 — Mirka Andolfo
    • adult fantasy/dystopia graphic novel
      • I, uh… haven’t actually read the synopsis because I own Vol. 1 and was gonna read it before this one. ?
  • Moonstruck, Vol. 2 — Grace Ellis
    • YA fantasy graphic novel
      • ^ same as Unnatural V2.
  • Ayesha at Last — Uzma Jalaluddin
    • NA/adult(?) contemporary romance
      • I kept seeing this around and considering it, so when it was offered to me by the publicist, I decided it was meant to be. It’s about a Muslim girl who doesn’t want an arranged marriage, and life is made even more difficult when an arranged engagement springs up between her cousin and the ultra-conservative-but-super-hot guy Ayesha’s falling for.
  • Something Like Gravity — Amber Smith
    • YA contemporary
      • A romance starring a trans boy? Yes, please. ♥ And I’ve heard so many good things about this author, and have been meaning to read her work for years, so I’m doubly excited to have this eARC.
  • The Best Lies — Sarah Lyu
    • YA thriller
      • Set the scene: your best friend in the world just killed your boyfriend. I mean, honestly, stop the synopsis there, because I’m already intrigued, but it doesn’t hurt that it also has queer rep and is described as “a psychological thriller about obsessive friendship”.

Kindle Purchases/Freebies:

42280482

  • Can’t Escape Love — Alyssa Cole
    • adult contemporary romance
      • Have I read anything in this series yet? Nope. Did that stop me from buying the first 2 books, 2 novellas, and getting an ARC of the 3rd book? Nope. LOOK AT THIS COVER! THE DISABILITY REP! *weeps joyously*

Physical Purchases:

    1. I just got Small Town Hearts out of the library and I can’t wait to start it after all the good things I’ve been hearing! And I just love the cover for These Witches Don’t Burn! It’s so bright and colorful!

      1. These Witches Don’t Burn has such a cute cover, I swear! I’m interested to hear your thoughts on Small Town Hearts. I ended up having to put it down for the time being because I wasn’t in the mood but I want to try it again this summer!
