Physical Review Copies:

  • Remains — Andrew Cull [adult horror]
    • I have no doubt at all, even remotely, that this won’t be one of the saddest horror stories I’ve ever read, because Andrew has already proven himself to be great at creeping me the hell out and breaking my heart simultaneously. Yet I’m somehow so excited? This is about a woman who returns to her old home after her son passes away, and finds something waiting there for her.
  • The Liar’s Daughter — Megan Cooley Peterson [YA contemporary]
    • I love stories related to cults, but I’ve never read one about someone who wants to return to a cult before, so this sounds interesting!
  • Among the Fallen — Virginia Frances Schwartz [YA hist-fic]
    • Inspired by the true stories of the Tothill prison, this is about the way teen girls were treated in the Victorian era.

  • The Fearing #2: Water & Wind — John F.D. Taff [adult horror]
    • I loved the first novella and can’t wait to read this continuation! Bring on the spooky apocalypse. ?
  • Sea Witch Rising — Sarah Henning [YA fantasy]
    • So, I actually didn’t request this and haven’t read the first book in the series, but it randomly showed up in the mail this week and it’s BEAUTIFUL. I’ve had the first book (Sea Witch) on my TBR for ages, so I’ll grab that one from the library and check it out soon!
  • Wonderland: An Anthology — Marie O’Regan [adult fantasy/horror anthology]
    • I’ve been so excited for this for ages and I freaked out when Titan emailed me offering a copy! It’s a collection of dark fantasy/horror stories set in Wonderland. 😀
  • Monster, She Wrote — Lisa Kroger [adult nonfic]
    • A collection of facts and essays about lady horror/spec-fic authors ?

Digital Review Copies:

  • The Unsuitable — Molly Pohlig [adult mystery/paranormal/gothic]
    • A gothic ghost story, and it’s feminist, and it sounds like it covers some mental health aspects, too!
  • Never Have I Ever with a Duke — Darcy Burke [adult historical romance]
    • A marriage of convenience between two people who both think they need to find wealthy spouses. This just sounds really fun and cute.
  • Follow me to Ground — Sue Rainsford [adult fantasy]
    • A fantasy novella about Irish witches/healers ?

  • Harley in the Sky — Akemi Dawn Bowman [YA contemporary]
    • I’ve been waiting forever for this, it feels like! Y’all know I love ADB’s writing anyways, but a diverse contemporary story about a girl who runs off to join a traveling circus? Hell yeah!
  • Hex: A Novel — Rebecca Dinerstein Knight [adult… contemporary???]
    • I don’t know what genre this actually is, but I do know it’s queer, short, and has a really pretty cover ?
      ✨ f/f rep! ✨
  • Ghoster — Jason Arnopp [adult horror]
    • A woman being ghosted by her boyfriend leads to strange whispers from unknown callers and scratches on walls… ?

  • Rules for Being a Girl — Katie Cotugno [YA contemporary]
    • I love a good feminist contemporary about rape culture. In this one, a high schooler’s English teacher comes on to her and really rattles her, so she sets out on a mission to wake up her classmates, with the help of another student who she’d previously dismissed as a “slutty” guy.
  • The Easy Part of Impossible — Sarah Tomp [YA contemporary]
    • An MC with ADHD, an autistic love interest, and physical/emotional abuse from an athletic coach (something that I feel happens very often and is talked about almost never). Wow, if this isn’t well-researched, I will RIOT.
  • All Your Twisted Secrets — Diana Urban [YA thriller]
    • Oddly specific trope I love #5875: when a group of people are invited to dinner, only to find themselves trapped in a really messed-up “game” or competition. It happens in horror films a lot, but not often enough in books!
  • Loveboat, Taipei — Abigail Hing Wen [YA contemporary]
    • A bunch of otherwise brilliant, hardworking teens ditch their education summer plans for Loveboat: “a summer-long free-for-all with zero supervision”.

  • The Intuition Journal — Jo Chun Yan [adult nonfic]
    • A 13-week session where each week focuses on a different aspect of teaching you how to “listen” to yourself and nature more.
  • The Ritual Yearbook — Theresa Cheung [adult nonfic]
    • think this is a book of quick daily things you can do to focus on your own mindfulness and self-care? But I’m honestly not 100% sure.
  • 10-Minute Declutter — Skye Alexander [adult nonfic]
    • Decluttering tips ?‍♀️

Kindle Purchases/Freebies:

  • Child of the Ghosts — Jonathan Moeller [YA paranormal; kindle freebie]
    • Recommended in a facebook group I’m in ?‍♀️
  • Dead of Night — C.M. Saunders [adult horror; kindle freebie]
    • Another recommendation. Civil war zombies!
  • I Just Want You to Be Happy — Amy Cross [adult horror; kindle freebie]
    • I think this author just randomly picks a couple of her NUMEROUS novellas per week and makes them free for a couple of days at a time, because my collection of her stories keeps piling up. Hope I like them… ???
  • Girl’s Best Friend — R.J. Roles [adult horror; kindle freebie]
    • A short story about an adult woman going through therapy to come to terms with something horrible her mom did to her as a kid, maybe?

Library & Kindle Unlimited Borrows:

  • The Lightning Thief: The Graphic Novel — Rick Riordan [MG fantasy; digital library loan]
    • Because what better way to motivate myself to move on to the HoO series than by rereading the PJO series in graphic novel format?
  • City of Ghosts — Victoria Schwab [MG horror; digital library loan]
    • On a whim, I decided to reread this before Tunnel of Bones releases, and the audiobook is only 5 hours long!
  • Escaping from Houdini — Kerri Maniscalco [YA hist-fic; digital library loan]
    • Continuing the #StalkAlong rereads!
