T10T: Winter TBR

November 28, 2017

This is a weekly tag hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and this week’s challenge is Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR!

I’m going to start with unreleased books I have pre-ordered, then unreleased books I have ARCs of, and then books that are already out which I plan to read this winter! I’m trying a new layout for my T10T posts, so let me know what you guys think!

1. The Cruel Prince – Holly Black
I haven’t read a Holly Black book in many years (despite owning several unread releases from her), but this book sounds so good that I had to pre-order it a few months ago. I just know I’ll be moving it to the very top of my TBR the moment it arrives!
Unreleased, pre-ordered; releases 01.02.18

2. Reign of the Fallen – Sarah Glenn Marsh
At risk of oversimplification, this is a queer zombie book. Need I say more? I’ve barely managed to force myself to hold back on picking this one up so far, and if I end up with any room leftover in my December TBR, this will be added on.
Unreleased, ARC; releases 01.23.18

3. Everless – Sara Holland
While the idea of time being used as currency may not be brand new, it is definitely a take I don’t see frequently, and I’ve heard so many rave reviews about this book! *December TBR*
Unreleased, ARC; releases 01.02.18

4. Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi
This looks to be an incredible, diverse, complex YA fantasy. I’m told the world-building in it is positively exquisite, and knowing how highly sought-after this book is, I felt so incredibly privileged when my NetGalley “wish” was granted!
Unreleased, ARC; releases 03.06.18

5. Miles Away From You – A.B. Rutledge
I have a running joke lately with a few friends: I don’t reach for contemporary anymore unless it’s queer or sad AF. Well, lovelies, this one is both! It’s a queer contemporary about a young man grieving the loss of his trans girlfriend, and I have a strong suspicion that it will wreck me, but for some reason I’m just excited beyond words to start it. *December TBR*
Unreleased, ARC; releases 03.20.18

6. Beyond a Darkened Shore – Jessica Leake
I’m such a sucker for mythology-inspired fantasy novels, especially when they’re high fantasy types with lots of world-building, which I’m told this book does well. Plus, crows are a big feature, and, you know, black birds seem to be my aesthetic in my YA reading life.
Unreleased, ARC; releases 04.10.18

7. Devils Unto Dust – Emma Berquist
I. Freaking. Love. Infection. Tropes! This is a YA horror-meets-western title and I just know it’s going to be yucky and wonderful and fun.
Unreleased, ARC; releases 04.10.18

8. Mud Vein – Tarryn Fisher
This will be my first book by Tarryn Fisher, and I’m so eager to dive right in. Sweet Melanie sent me a copy of this book for my birthday back in October, and right after opening it, I sat down to read the first chapter and was immediately hooked. *December TBR*

9. The Assassin’s Blade – Sarah J. Maas
The time has finally come… I’m going to start the Throne of Glass series! *cheering in distance* I adore the ACOTAR series (so much that I’m restarting it for the third time next month), so I figured it was high time I try her other series, too (especially after owning the entire set in hardbacks since January, besides TOD, which I picked up on its release day… #noregrets). *December TBR*

10. The Raven King – Maggie Stiefvater
I’m simultaneously so excited and so sad to see this series draw to a close, but I have loved every step of the way so far, and I know I’m going to love the final book, too. I only hope that Maggie doesn’t break my heart too badly. *December TBR*

What are some of your most anticipated reads this winter? Are you looking forward to any of the books on my list?

    1. I want to read all of the books on your list based on the covers alone! Those are some gorgeous covers. While none of these are on my list, several are on my wish list. I really want to give Maggie Stiefvater a try. And Holly Black’s book as well. I hope you enjoy all of these!

      1. Yessss, I am such a sucker for a beautiful cover, and there are some gorgeous ones here! Oh man, I cannot recommend Maggie’s books highly enough. She has SUCH a unique writing voice. She is one of the only authors I’ve ever read who can make me laugh and cry on the same page. Her writing style is so sarcastic and cynical sometimes, but she paints scenes and characters beautifully. Sorry, I’m rambling, lol! Thank you, and happy reading! ?

    1. I’m also really looking forward to the Cruel Prince, because I love everything centred around fae and Holly Black is a really good writer, so this should be good!
Same goes for Everless – the take on time / blood as a currency seems like a very interesting premise!
And of course, like most people right now, I, too, can’t wait for Children of Blood and Bone ?
Also on my tbr is the third Shades of Magic book. I’ve really enjoyed this series up until now, so I’m looking forward to finally reading A Conjuring of Light. ?

      1. I can’t wait to read TCP! I’m hearing such good reviews for it. I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve read anything by Holly, but I can’t wait to pick up her writing again. I loved Tithe as a teen. Ooooh, yay for ACOL! I am hoping to read books 2 and 3 before spring starts. I want to focus on finishing some series in 2018. 🙂

        1. I actually haven’t read Tithe, I don’t know why? It’s been on my tbr for ages! ?
A Conjuring of Light is very good so far, but I‘m only a few chapters in. Still, I‘m sure it‘ll be great ? and focusing on finishing some series seems like a very good plan!

    1. I have an eARC of The Cruel Prince waiting for me – whoooop.
Everless is on my wishlist but.. yeah, book buying ban and stuff like that, haha.
I read The Raven Cycle but I didn’t fall completely in love like so many people did.. Maybe if I give it a reread one day I will? Don’t know.
I’ve read The Assassin’s Blade and the first two installments of the ToG-series; LOVING THEM! Maybe even more so than ACOTAR? Although nobody beats Rhysand in my book..

    1. I still need to read THE RAVEN KING and I am SO with you on the sad/excited feelings. Even though I’ve been meaning to read it since it came out (EEK!!), I somehow am still super pumped to finally get to it. REIGN OF THE FALLEN looks super cool too. The cover is so ??

      1. Yesss! It’s like, I know I’m gonna love it, but god, I’m so sad to say goodbye! I know she has the Ronan trilogy coming out in the next couple of years, but still… I think The Raven Cycle will be a series I will reread over and over, honestly. And yes, that cover!

    1. Oh Reign of the Fallen, yes. I only added books I already own haha otherwise that would be on there as well. The Cruel Prince looks so interesting as well.

      1. Thank you! Oh yes, you definitely should check it out! A lot of people are uncertain about the first book, but say they fall in love later in the series. I loved book 1, but books 2 and 3 were even better!

    1. Ummm, every single book I went to add to my TBR from your list was already there. Oops! Guess we have very similar TBRs!

Say hello! ♥
