TBR Lows & Highs #25

February 3, 2019

The WINNER of last week’s “lows” vote was… *drumroll*

WHEN THE MOON WAS OURS by Anna-Marie McLemore!

(this was the first week I’ve gotten SO many votes, and 3 books were almost tied for the winner! it’s AWESOME!)

As promised, I’ll now add this book to my “top-TBR” shelf on Goodreads to remind me to read it within the next 18 months.

Rules:

  • Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
  • Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
  • Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
    • ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
  • Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
  • Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
  • List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

thelows

(books that are LOW on my TBR—vote in the comments for which one I should move UP on my list and I’ll read it within 18 months!)

I don’t read YA but both 4. Allegedly and 5. Everything Leads to You sound good!

  • Reply Sionna (Books in Her Eyes) February 3, 2019 at 9:06 am

The Duchess Deal was so good! I’ll vote for that one 🙂
I love how I just told myself I wouldn’t be taking out any more library books or books from KU, then I see your highs and instantly my TBR gains books and I’ve got The Casquette Girls out from KU hahaha.
I’m loving all the upcoming vampire books!! The Beautiful this year and Empire of the Vampire in 2020! Hopefully more people will jump on this and make 2021 the year of the vampires haha.

Thank you! It’s funny because I had written this post a few days ago and wasn’t super in a romance mood, so when I randomized my TBR shelf and that was one of the first ones, I was like, “Sure, I’d say that’s pretty low priority” (that’s how I figure out my ‘lows’ which is why they’re such an odd mix sometimes haha). But then literally the day after scheduling this I almost picked it up. ? I guess I forgot I’d put it on this week’s lows list until seeing your comment just now so now I’m hoping it wins.

      • Reply Sionna (Books in Her Eyes) February 3, 2019 at 5:35 pm

That is a weird thing with large TBR lists. You forget things are on it, or you consider removing something, only to see it another time and have an intense need to read it haha. I really hope it wins too, it is such a delightful book ^_^

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 3, 2019 at 4:56 pm

Omg I know right??!!! I LITERALLY started like jumping around and yelling when the reveal was posted. ? No shame. And thank you for voting! I think that one’s winning so far!

  • Reply Mandy R February 3, 2019 at 10:58 am

Snow Like Ashes is the only one I’ve read from your lows. I also haven’t heard of any of your highs so I may have to check them out.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 3, 2019 at 4:56 pm

I hope you find some you’re interested in if you do check them out! 🙂 and thank you for voting

My vote is for Everything Leads to You — Nina LaCour, I read it years ago and really enjoyed it.

  • Reply acquadimore February 3, 2019 at 1:45 pm

I vote for Everything Leads to You – it’s one of the two books from the Lows I read and the only one I liked (Snow Like Ashes was just ok for me). While it’s not my favorite LaCour book, I thought it was a really cute story.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 3, 2019 at 4:58 pm

Thank you! Can I ask what your favorite Nina LaCour book is, on that note? I’ve only read We Are Okay so far (I think I gave it 4 stars).

      • Reply acquadimore February 3, 2019 at 5:33 pm

It’s We Are Okay, but not by much – all the LaCour books I read so far were in the 3.5-4.5 star range for me.

Little & Lion – I haven’t read it myself, but I’ve seen it around and I’m curious about this book. Maybe if you read it and I see your review it will finally help me decide whether to read it or not.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 3, 2019 at 5:00 pm

Thank you so much for voting! 🙂 Haha I was supposed to read that one last summer for a class and they changed the reading list to make it optional, so I never got around to it at the time!

  • Reply Malka @ Paper Procrastinators February 3, 2019 at 5:03 pm

OMG! You need to read Everything Leads to You! It’s so good!!!!!! And I’m also super pumped for If I’m Being Honest, since I’ve read their first book Always Never Yours and LOVED it!

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 4, 2019 at 6:15 pm

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 4, 2019 at 6:20 pm

Thank you, darlin’! I saw some excerpts of it on twitter this morning that honestly made me almost start it right then and there, so now I’m hoping it wins just so I can quickly read it and be like, “HA! Marked one off my list! Definitely didn’t plan this, nope, not me, no way…”

  • Reply Laura Beth February 5, 2019 at 10:32 am

My vote is for Little & Lion!
