The WINNER of last week’s “lows” vote was… *drumroll*
UGLY LOVE by Colleen Hoover!
As promised, I’ll now add this book to my “top-TBR” shelf on Goodreads to remind me to read it within the next 18 months.
Rules:
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
- ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)
(books that are LOW on my TBR—vote in the comments for which one I should move UP on my list and I’ll read it within 18 months!)
- Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
- The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin
- The Wizards of Once — Cressida Cowell
- Diary of a Haunting by M. Verano
- The Restorer by Amanda Stevens.
I like doing mini blurbs, but I’m typing this post up at 4:30am Sunday morning after spending the entire night finishing my bookshelf organization, so this week, it’s just covers, genres, and links. I’m sorry. ?

I vote for Station Eleven. I have heard so many great things about it and it has also been on my tbr for ages. This was a greta reminder to pick it up!
Thank you for voting and I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up soon! 🙂
I will vote for The Fifth Season, with the caveat I haven’t read it but everyone else keeps telling me it’s great and I should read it.
Haha I keep hearing such good things, too!! I just don’t read much scifi or dystopian so I guess that’s why I haven’t reached for it yet!
I feel as if I’m still semi over dystopians from The Hunger Game craze, even though it was years ago.
SAME ?? I’m so glad I’m not alone, that’s hilarious. I have literally said that to people before, that I got burnt out during the Hunger Games craze (even though THG is one of my fave series of all time), and people are always like, “??? but that was… YEARS ago???” ?♀️?♀️?♀️?♀️
The Fifth Season!!!! I just bought this book and I’m super excited to get to it!
Ooooh, if you beat me to it, definitely let me know what you think!
Will do!! ?
Station Eleven was amazing! It definitely gets my vote!
Awesome, thank you!!
Oooh, I vote for Station Eleven! That was my last read of 2018 and I really enjoyed it! I don’t read a lot of sci-fi, but I thought it was really unique.
And up til 4:30am? Dang girl, get some sleep! 😉
Thank you! 🙂 I don’t read a ton of scifi either so that makes me happy to hear someone else who doesn’t reach for the genre much say they liked it a lot. And yeah… ? It’s funny because it’s 2:56am as I’m replying to this comment of yours! I’m a major night owl naturally and it’s really hard for me to stay on a good, steady sleep schedule. My sleep got all messed up with being sick last week and then all the re-organizing this weekend, so right now I’m actually trying to stay up all night tonight so that I can go right to bed at a normal time tomorrow night and fix my schedule before going back to work on Wednesday! It sounds crazy, I know, but it seems to be the only thing that works for me and I have to do it to “reset” myself about once every 2-3 months. ?
Holy crap. That does sound really bizarre. But I guess if it works, it works, right? Lol, I feel like if I tried to do something like that, I’d accidentally fall asleep during the middle of the day and make it worse.
I hope this week is a lot better for you and that you begin to get lots of restful sleep! 🙂
Thank you! Hahaha it really does sound weird but it seems to have worked! I did take 2 separate 15-minute power naps but I ended up making it until about 11:30pm last night and then slept like a rock until 8:30am this morning, and I’ve felt pretty good since then!
I’m going to vote for Station Eleven because it’s a book I am interested in reading as well.
Thank you! 😀 I’m hearing so many good reviews. Hopefully we’ll both love it!
? hopefully so.
I vote for Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, I’ve been meaning to read it.
Thank you for voting! That one is winning by a long shot so far!
I vote for Station Eleven. The only one I’ve read and it’s pretty good.
Excellent, thank you for voting! ♥
So glad CoHo won!!
Me too! ?
I would vote for the fifth season, but tbh I haven’t read it hahah, but I’m excited for that one!

Haha that’s okay, you can still vote for it! 😀 I just realized today that I have an audiobook for it. I had totally forgotten it was on sale for a few bucks last year and I grabbed it, so that should help motivate me to read it sooner!
Yeees, Bloom Into You! I just ordered some manga but not that one… I guess it’s for my next haul.
I vote for The Fifth Season! It’s really fantastic. To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it at first, but then I fell in love with it a few chapters in.
It looks so good! My copies of the first couple of volumes are currently en route from another branch and I’m really hoping they arrive tomorrow or Friday so I can read them this weekend. 🙂
Thank you for voting! ♥
I can’t wait to find out what you think of them! And then purchase them, most likely.
I haven’t read The Fifth Season yet but it sounds amazing and has been getting a bit of hype this year. *coughs* maybe we should buddy-read it????
Ooooh, yes please!!!! We need another buddy read attempt since I butchered our last one lol!
Haha you didn’t butcher it, don’t worry! But, we should definitely buddy read The Fifth Season, just lmk when you have room on your tbr!
The Fifth Season (its on my TBR too)….I might be the only person in the world who didn’t like Station Eleven lol.
Thank you! Haha oh no, what did you dislike about Station Eleven, if you don’t mind me asking?
I vote for The Fifth Season, which I’m hoping to get around to sometime this year! 🙂
Thank you! ♥
Station Eleven!!! Arrrrr!!!
