The WINNER of last week’s “lows” vote was… *drumroll*
BARBED WIRE HEART by Tess Sharpe!
(This week was another tie with a random number generator choosing the winner again. I also actually removed LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR from my TBR after the “anti-vote” comments it received!)
As promised, I’ll now add this book to my “top-TBR” shelf on Goodreads to remind me to read it within the next 18 months.
Rules:
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5 titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”) OR find 5 titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)
(books that are LOW on my TBR (BUT NOT BEING REMOVED)—vote in the comments for which one I should move UP on my list and I’ll read it within 18 months!)

- YA fantasy; cover add ?♀️
- Giant Days, Vol. 10 — John Allison
- NA contemporary graphic novel; I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH ?
- How to Survive a Horror Movie — Seth Grahame-Smith
- adult horror/”nonfic”/humor; Seth Grahame-Smith has entertained me in the past and I reeeaaally want this re-release cover ?

My vote is for The Girl With All the Gifts — M.R. Carey! I really enjoyed it, plus it has a film too.
I don’t know any of the ‘lows’, but Giant Days looks so good. I’ve been eyeing it off for a while!
You have to read THE RAPING OF AVA DESANTIS by Mylo Carbia (I love her latest novel VIOLETS ARE RED even more). Her writing is super concise (you’ll finish it in two days) and inceredibly descriptive. Very refreshing. More like twisted terror than traditional horror.
Late reply, sorry, but thank you for the encouragement on THE RAPING OF AVA DESANTIS! I really hope to pick that one up soon, and I’ll check out VIOLETS ARE RED as well. 🙂
