The WINNER of last week’s “lows” vote was… *drumroll*
AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir!
As promised, I’ll now add this book to my “top-TBR” shelf on Goodreads to remind me to read it soon!
Rules:
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5 titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”) OR find 5 titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)
(books that are LOW on my TBR (BUT NOT BEING REMOVED)—vote in the comments for which one I should move UP on my list and I’ll read it!)
- The Doctor’s Secret — Heidi Cullinan [adult romance]
- A forbidden doctor/nurse romance featuring a Taiwanese-American hero!

- Unf*ck Your Habitat — Rachel Hoffman [adult nonfic]
- I’ve been meaning to read this self-help book for ages. I read some snippets of the stuff on the related blog and it’s HILARIOUS but also super call-you-out-on-your-shit, which I probably need.
- New Ink on Life — Jennie Davids [adult romance]
- A queer-lady romance between a tattoo shop owner and her new apprentice. ? Tattoos and ladies loving ladies? Gimme.

- Never Never — Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher [NA romance/mystery]
- I like both of these authors so I’m intrigued by the idea of them writing together, plus I haven’t read an amnesia romance in a long time…
- A Wicked Kind of Husband — Mia Vincy [adult historical romance]
- Two people who really don’t want any part of their arranged marriage to each other… we all know where this is going, and I need it in my life. Bring on the grouchy reluctant lovers. ?
- Hack/Slash Omnibus, Vol. 1 — Tim Seeley [adult horror graphic novel]
- This and the next few several titles were all tentative adds from stuff I found while falling down the Hoopla graphic novel hole a few days ago. ?
- Lady Mechanika, Vol. 1 — Joe Benitez [adult steampunk graphic novel]
- Flinch: Book One — Brian Azzarello [adult horror graphic novel]
- The Black Dahlia — Matz [adult mystery graphic novel]
- Memetic — James Tynion IV [adult horror graphic novel]
- Hexed, Vol. 1 — Michael Alan Nelson [adult horror graphic novel]
- Agnes at the End of the World — Kelly McWilliams [YA dystopia]
- A girl escaping her cult family to save her diabetic brother from their “no medicines” law? I’m in.
- The Perfect Escape — Suzanne Park [YA romance]
- A couple of teens go in on a survival competition together to try to win some massive sum of money, and I’m guessing they fall in love in the meantime? Cute.
- I’ll Be the One — Lyla Lee [YA contemporary]
- A bi girl’s mission to become the world’s first plus-size Korean pop star. YES. PLEASE.

I vote for New Ink because, uh, yes PLEASE.
I’m voting for New Ink on Life this week because how could I not?
i’m voting for new ink on life because umm, how could I not after i read the words ‘queer tattoo ladies’?? but i’m also down voting never never because the first one is good but the ending is TERRIBLE and ruined the whole thing imo ?
