The WINNER of last week’s “lows” vote was… *drumroll*
MY SISTER, THE SERIAL KILLER by Oyinkan Braithwaite!
As promised, I’ll now add this book to my “top-TBR” shelf on Goodreads to remind me to read it soon!
Rules:
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5 titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”) OR find 5 titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)
(books that are LOW on my TBR (BUT NOT BEING REMOVED)—vote in the comments for which one I should move UP on my list and I’ll read it!)
For a while, I’m going to be focusing primarily on quick reads and overdue ARCs with my “lows”, because my voted TBR has gotten pretty big and has a LOT of big reads on it. ?
- I’m Not Dying With You Tonight — Kimberly Jones & Gilly Segal [YA contemporary]
- I need to pick this up because it’s an overdue ARC and I was VERY excited about the premise, but I’ve heard a lot of very “meh” reviews which has put a bit of a damper on my enthusiasm…
- The Hollow Girl — Hillary Monahan [YA horror]
- This is one of my oldest overdue ARCs! It came out all the way back in fall of 2017. Whoops.

- Stag’s Run — Zaya Feli [adult fantasy/romance; free on kindle store]
- This was pitched to me as a Captive Prince read-alike a long time ago and I kind of forgot about it until it popped up while I was randomizing my GR TBR for this post. Now I kind of wanna pick it up right away…

- Ice Massacre — Tiana Warner [YA fantasy]
- Gimme all the gay murderous mermaids!

- Gimme all the gay murderous mermaids!
- The Murders of Molly Southbourne — Tade Thompson [adult horror novella]
- A woman who spawns a weird, murderous “clone” every time she bleeds? I swear, this sounds SO cool. Why have I not read this yet?!
- The God Game — Danny Tobey [adult sci-fi]
- I got invited to join a blog tour for this one and accepted, so it’ll be here soon. It’s about a creepy, fantastical video game run by a cruel AI that makes them do bad things in the game, and the players don’t know if there will be real-life consequences or not.
- Withered + Sere — T.J. Klune [adult dystopia/romance]
- I’ve only read one 50-page short story by T.J. Klune, yet here I am, adding everything and anything by him to my TBR. I don’t know when I’ll be able to read it as I’ll have to wait for it to be re-published, but it’ll be worth the wait, I’m sure!

- The Dark Beneath the Ice — Amelinda Berube [YA horror]
- This is one of those additions where I feel in my bones like I won’t be all that impressed, buuuut I have to see for myself anyways.
- Playing House — Ruby Lang [adult romance novella]
- Talia Hibbert recommends books and I add them to my TBR, that’s just how it goes ?♀️
- The Boss Who Stole Christmas — Jana Aston [adult romance novella; kindle unlimited]
- I always have to find a few quick holiday romances for my November and December TBRs, so I grabbed this one right up when Sionna posted about it last week!
Descriptions for all additions or “highs” below this point can be found in the latest Stacking the Shelves post!
- Transfer — Terry M. West [adult horror novella; eARC]
- Open House — Ruby Lang [adult romance novella; pre-order]
- A Match Made for Thanksgiving — Jackie Lau [adult romance novella; kindle purchase]
Which book from my “lows” do you think I should read first?

My choice would be The Murders of Molly Southbourne by Tade Thompson, but Ice Massacre sounds great also.
Hmm, I’m gonna vote for Molly Southbourne since I also want to read it! 🙂
