TBR Lows & Highs

TBR Lows & Highs #67

December 8, 2019

*** “Lows” voting is currently on hold ***

Rules:

  • Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
  • Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
  • Find 5 titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”) OR find 5 titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
  • Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
  • Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
  • List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

ANNOUNCEMENT:

My “lows” voting list has gotten really long by now, and I need to give myself some time to catch up on it, so I’m going to be leaving my “lows” empty for a little while. Instead, I want to ask you all to tell me which of my “highs” you’re most interested in (or, if you’ve read any of them, what you thought of them) to help me decide which ones to read soonest!

I don’t think this has ever happened before, but… everything I added this week was also hauled in my Stacking the Shelves post yesterday. 😂 I’ll just copy those descriptions over, so… sorry for the super boring Lows & Highs post this week!

  • In the Middle of Somewhere — Roan Parrish [adult romance; kindle unlimited]
    • I need more angsty tattooed burly queer romance pairings in my life, please and thank you ♥
      ✨ m/m rep ✨
  • The Winter Quarters — Anna Veriani [adult romance]
    • I’m so glad Laura put this on my radar with this amazing review because now I NEED this romance in my life. I really, really need more queer best-friends-to-lovers tropes. ♥
      ✨ m/m & Japanese rep ✨
  • The Possession of Natalie Glasgow — Hailey Piper [adult horror novella; kindle unlimited]
    • Speaking of friends I love very much giving rave reviews to books that immediately make me buy and/or borrow those books… Cassie made this one sound PHENOMENAL! Sign me up for all the creepy little girls.
  • Wait for Me — Tia Louise [adult romance]
    • I have a real weakness for the whole second-chance-romance thing, especially when it’s a slightly “forbidden” pairing like the classic brother’s-best-friend hero (which is what this one’s about, I think).
  • Someday, Someday — Emma Scott [adult romance; kindle unlimited]
    • And another friend-recommended title I can’t get my hands on fast enough. Alex said this one was devastating in the best way and honestly, sometimes I just need a good tearjerker (especially if I can expect a HEA at the end of the day).
      ✨ m/m rep ✨

  • Little Paranoias — Sonora Taylor [adult horror short stories]
    • I’m seeing this little short story collection everywhere and the cover just keeps sucking me in, so I finally remembered to add it to my TBR! I think it’s all about super deep, dark fears. 😈
  • One Last Stop — Casey McQuiston [new adult romance]
    • I AM SO READY I CAN’T STAND MYSELF
      ✨ f/f rep ✨
  • This is Going to Hurt — Adam Kay [adult nonfic/humor]
    • A morbidly humorous medical memoir? Gimme.
  • Sanity & Tallulah — Molly Brooks [MG sci-fi graphic novel]
    • This looks so cute 😍 Girls in space!
  • The Mirror Season — Anna-Marie McLemore [YA fantasy]
    • A reimagining of The Snow Queen featuring assault survivors, vanishing trees, inherited magic… yo, Anna-Marie’s about to wreck me for the millionth time. Bring it on.
      ✨ queer rep ✨

I would go with Sanity & Tallulah. It’s short and cute.

In the middle of somewhere was so good. Best of the series really…
Someday, Someday is on my TBR as well! Hope you enjoy them when you get to them.

I’m excited to read Wait for Me by Tia Louise! She has become a favorite of mine this year.

Honestly, I’m so intrigued by all of these!!! And my TBR is glaring at me because I’m adding more (see: these titles) to it. Oopsies. I’d probably go with In the Middle of Somewhere or Wait for Me first!!

I’m so glad you want to read The Winter Quarters, it is so freaking good! Definitely shoot that to the top of your TBR! Also let me know what you think about In the Middle of Somewhere! I love Roan Parrish’s books but I haven’t read that series.

I went ahead and bought it and everything 😂 And after seeing this comment, I think I’m going to add it to my Mrs. Claus Readathon TBR! Ooooh, will do — maybe I’ll be able to pick them both up for the readathon, even 😀
