- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)
Before we jump into my list, here are the posts from other bloggers:
- Ari had some amazing queer recommendations this week!
- Sarah made some great removals!
- Sionna added a really exciting upcoming retelling this week!
Make sure you go give them some love, and feel free to join in with us on this meme!
1. Madness — Zac Brewer
This sounded interesting enough at first, but after reading some full-spoiler reviews and learning how it ends, I’m not interested at all.
2. Ultimate Sacrifice — S. E. Green
This just sounds… meh.
3. Corrupt — Penelope Douglas
The longer it’s been since I read my last Penelope Douglas read, Birthday Girl, the more I hate that book and it’s making me lose all interest in reading most of her other work.
4. Saga, Vol. 7 — Brian K. Vaughan
I swear I’ve removed this so many times and I keep finding it on my TBR shelf again? WTF? I’m just not interested in continuing this series.
5. The Chaos of Stars — Kiersten White
I loved the first 2 books in The Conquerors Saga by her, but I have 3 other books of Kiersten’s on my TBR that I actually own, so I’ll remove this one (which I do not own).
1. Miranda and Caliban — Jacqueline Carey (purchased)
This is a retelling of The Tempest, but that’s not why I bought it. I fell in love with the cover immediately, the hardback was only a few dollars on BookOutlet, and I’m a sucker for tragic romance.
2. Nights of the Living Dead — Jonathan Maberry & George A. Romero (purchased)
I love anthologies, I love zombies, and I love George A. Romero.
3. Suffer the Children — Craig DiLouie (purchased)
When I bought this, I thought it was about zombie children, but it’s actually about vampire children. Semantics!
4. Haunted Are These Houses — Eddie Generous & Erin Sweet Al-Mehairi (purchased)
A whole anthology about haunted houses, and there are quite a few authors in the list that I’ve been wanting to check out!
5. Middlegame — Seanan McGuire
I just see Seanan McGuire’s name and click “want to read” immediately.
6. Scream and Scream Again! — R. L. Stine
An entire anthology of middle grade horror, edited and pieced together by my childhood fave? YES, PLEASE.
7. The Weight of the Stars — K. Ancrum
Queer ladies in space! I actually thought I had added this ages ago, but I hadn’t, so here we are. Now, if I can just stay calm until its March 2019 release…
8. My Favorite Half-Night Stand — Christina Lauren (ARC)
I’ve only read one thing from this author duo before, and I really enjoyed it, so I had to request this when I saw it on netgalley (and thankfully, I was approved!). It evidently tackles a humorous, honest outlook on internet dating, and as someone with way too many cringe-y, laughable stories of my own in that field, I’m here for it.
9. The Witch Boy — Molly Ostertag
A middle grade graphic novel about a boy who wants to be a witch, even though his family swears only girls can be witches. This sounds so precious and I’m always down for challenging gender roles!
10. We Hunt the Flame — Hafsah Faizal
I know I keep saying I’m getting burnt out on “royalty” YA fantasy stories, but one written by a Muslim author, who I’m told inserted some of her own religious identity into the storytelling? I can’t pass that up. ♥
What did you think of this week’s removals and additions? Will you be adding any of these to your TBR?

I loved Miranda and Caliban, I’m glad you’re leaving it on your list:-)
I’m really looking forward to it, so I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it!
i’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on My Favorite Half Night Stand – i’ve read two books by that duo and have been meh on both but something keeps bringing me back?? anyway i’m interested in the book for some reason
So far I’ve only read Autoboyography by them, and I thought it was cute, but nothing mind-blowing? That said I’m super hoping I’ll enjoy their adult work more!
I kept seeing Miranda and Caliban on Book Outlet and I almost got it, but I wasn’t sure about it. Can’t wait to see what you think!
Same, it had been in my cart for ages but I always ended up removing it when I went to place an order, lol! It felt like time to finally cave and order it.
Omg, why does Saga keep coming back to haunt you????
RIGHT? I don’t get it but I double checked and all of the unread volumes are now off of my TBR, so if they show up again later, well… 😐
