The Productivity Book Tag

June 6, 2019

It’s time for another round of Tag Thursday! This one came from Sam, one of my absolute favorite bloggers (if you’re not following her yet, fix it ASAP). She actually created this tag, and I love it so I couldn’t wait to fill it out, too! ♥

1. P L A N N I N G :

a book that is completely thought out →
The first book that comes to mind is The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas. Really, the whole TOG series works for this, but that one in particular. I read it before starting the main books in the series, and that’s how I always recommend newbies to the series start off, because I LOVED watching all of the foreshadowing play out!

2. F O C U S :

a book that kept your undivided attention →
Over and Over Again by Cole McCade — the eARC was almost 700 pages long, and I couldn’t focus on ANYTHING until I finished it. I literally stayed up until 5am reading the first 60% or so, and woke up at 8am to finish it. ?

3. D E L E G A T I N G :

a book that should have been a series →
An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson, only because I loved it so much that I desperately need more!

4. S M A L L _ G O A L S :

name a book below 150pg that you loved →
The Atrocities by Jeremy C. Shipp. It was one of the first horror novellas TorDotCom sent me, and I freaking LOOOOVED ITTTT. It’s only 105pg but it packs a real creepy, bizarro punch.

5.  P E A K _ H O U R S :

a series you could only read at a certain time →
I sat here for a minute and really tried to think of something, and I just came up blank! There are definitely single books I could only read at certain times, but no whole series that I can think of. ?‍♀️

6. L I S T S :

a book that you finally crossed off your TBR →
Living Dead in Dallas, the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I read the first book about ten years ago and always swore I’d continue the series, but never made it more than a couple of chapters into the second book until last month, when I inhaled the whole thing in a couple of sittings and loved it. ?

7. P R O A C T I V E :

a book that is/was ahead of its time →
The most recent one I read that fits this PERFECTLY is The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It’s a short story, technically, but it was written in 1892 originally, and would honestly succeed so well if it were released right here in 2019. The writing feels timeless and the content, while it would have to be tweaked just a tiny bit to make it more realistic, wouldn’t be out of place at all!

8. D E C L U T T E R :

a series you wish you could unread →
This makes me really sad, but… The Conqueror’s Saga by Kiersten White. ? I loved the first two books, but the finale of the trilogy made me so mad that it ruined the whole trilogy for me, and now I sometimes wish I’d never even started the whole thing.

9. M U L T I – T A S K I N G :

books that you read at the same time →
I’m a major multi-tasking reader (I have 30-something current reads as I type this), so… almost all of them?!

T A G S :

Kal → Cassie → Bex → Lauren → Sionna → Kathy → Samantha → Meeghan

… and YOU!

    1. Yes! Assassin’s Blade is really probably the only prequel short story collection that I’ve enjoyed! All of the stories were so good and I love how certain characters return in future books! I actually liked the fact that An Enchantment of Ravens was a standalone! But I also loved that book, and I can’t wait to finally read Sorcery of Thorns!

      1. Yesssss, the foreshadowing on the Assassin’s Blade novellas is amazing!! I loved watching the characters show back up. My spouse just started the series and I insisted that they start with the novellas, and now it’s so hard not to be like, “Just wait until ____ shows back up in ____” haha!

    1. Oh this Tag looks like a lot of fun! ? I agree with you on An Enchantment of Ravens, I so badly wanted to have a sequel because I love this world so much ? But, I’m very excited to start reading Sorcery of Thorns soon! 🙂

      1. I might have low key felt like I was gonna die too, for what it’s worth LMAO. I think I may actually be re-instating an old rule starting with my September TBR where I’ll be limiting myself to a certain number of current reads at any given time. ? We’ll see~ And you’re welcome for the tag! ♥

    1. Haven’t read any of these but still interesting. I keep hearing about Sarah J Maas, soon I will give in, especially seeing as you said it’s well planned out. Hmmm….
      Thanks for sharing!

Say hello! ♥
