WWW Wednesday: did I meet my new reading goal yet?

December 15, 2021

It’s time for another WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It’s a meme that takes place every Wednesday, where the posters discuss 3 Ws:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What I’m currently reading:

I DID IT! I reached (and passed) my new reading goal for the year! 🥳🎉🎊 Now, I’m trying to clear my currently-reading shelf out by the end of the year. These are the books I’m working on finishing first:

For the Wolf // Hannah F. Whitten
Buddy reading this with Malliumpkin and I’m obsessed!

✨ The House in the Cerulean Sea // T.J. Klune
I finally decided that I’m ready for all of the feels this is inevitably going to give me. ♥

✨ Ice Planet Barbarians // Ruby Dixon
After hearing people rave about this for years, I’m finally reading it via the new collector’s edition version. I have the ebook, but honestly if I enjoy it, I’m gonna have to order the paperback because I know the new cover has been controversial, but I LOVE it!

What I recently finished:

I skipped last week’s WWW because I hadn’t read anything *that* week, but I did read a few things over the past few days!

✨ The Visitor // Sergio Gomez
This was a really fun, VERY quick Christmas horror read!

✨ Eyes that Kiss in the Corners // Joanna Ho
This was such a sweet children’s book and totally deserving of the hype.

✨ Ghost Girl // Ally Malinenko
I finally finished it! I really don’t know why I let it sit on my desk collecting dust for as long as I did, because 1) I read most of it in one very short sitting, and 2) it was pretty fun!

✨ Sweat and Soap, Vol. 3 // Kintetsu Yamada
I’m just… trash for this weird-ass, adorable couple.

✨ Sugar and Spice // Eli Wray (not pictured)
❌ DNF ❌
I forgot to add this until the last minute, so it’s not pictured, but I couldn’t handle the writing. It was so over-the-top sugary, and while I can 100% understand why that works for a lot of readers, it was NOT for me.

What I’ll read next:

Like I said, I’m mostly just focusing on current reads right now, but I do need to read this book by Saturday for a group read discussion:

53869658

✨ Secret Santa // Andrew Shaffer

What are you reading right now, or what did you recently finish? Let me know in the comments!

    1. Enjoy your reading!
I’m currently reading The Idiot and Blood of Dragons 🙂

    1. I am reading my first Ruby Dixon at the moment (Bound to the Battle God) and I am very curious to find out how I will get on with her. I only just started it!

        1. I DNFd it 😣🤣. The combination of trying to do an epic fantasy story with some sexy times really did not work for me. Besides, both the main character and the Godly love interest annoyed me far too much! I hope Ice Planet Barbarians is better! (It’s probably just me, judging by the Goodreads rating 😂)

          1. Oh noooo 😂 I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you! I’m not sure whether or not you would like Ice Planet Barbarians much better, to be totally honest, but if you try it, I hope you do! I gave it 3.5 stars and will probably continue the series, but it had a lot of things that annoyed me 👀

            1. Oh dear 😂. I may give that one a miss then. To be honest, I just don’t think Ruby Dixon and I will get on… 😬

      1. Thank you! Good luck finishing your current reads! I unfortunately don’t think I’ll clear my currently-reading shelf by the end of the year unless I get struck by some sort of Christmas miracle and can read a book a day! 😂

    1. I also read Sugar and Spice, I really liked the characters but I totally see why this might not have worked for you. I was all here for the baking and mutual pining, but not the biggest fan of the writing style 🥺 Good luck with your reading! ❤️

      1. The writing style is definitely what threw me off! I’m so glad you enjoyed it overall, though. <3 It was one of those books where I kept thinking, "this isn't for me, but I *totally* see why people love it!" And thank you, good luck with yours as well!

Say hello! ♥
