TBRs

22 Books to Read in 2022!

December 27, 2021

I swore I was done attempting yearly TBRs, but I just can’t help myself:

It’s time for my 2022 TBR!

As I’ve talked about a few times lately, one of my major 2022 goals is to read more new releases!
I stopped focusing on hyped new releases in late 2019, so I decided to limit my 2022 TBR to only 2020 & 2021 releases!

I’ve picked 22 books for 2022!

2022 tbr

First, a few books I actually started to read in 2020, but set aside due to that terrible slump I was in for so long:

💫 My Dark Vanessa
💫 House of Earth and Blood
💫 The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
💫 Mexican Gothic
💫 Ghost Squad
💫 The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires

The rest of the books on this list are ones I’ve been wanting to read for a while and/or have heard a lot of hype for recently!

💫 A Court of Silver Flames
💫 The Bone Shard Daughter
💫 Riot Baby
💫 The Final Girl Support Group
💫 My Heart is a Chainsaw
💫 Cemetery Boys

💫 She Who Became the Sun
💫 Light From Uncommon Stars
💫 A Psalm for the Wild-Built
💫 A Dowry of Blood
💫 Near the Bone

💫 The Love Hypothesis
💫 Vespertine
💫 Comfort Me With Apples
💫 People We Meet On Vacation
💫 Dark Rise

What’s on your 2022 TBR? If you’ve made a post or video about it, please feel free to drop a link below – I’d love to see it! ♥

I’ve decided not to do this challenge this year because every year I fail.

I don’t blame you! I’ve never completed a yearly TBR EVER, so I’m hoping maaaaybe 2022 will be the year I can at least get most of it read!

  • Reply passmethatbook December 27, 2021 at 11:29 am

Great list! I haven’t read a single one though I did try Mexican Gothic and set it aside for later. I may join you in reading all these next year! 😊

Thank you! 😀 I’m really excited about this list. I hope you enjoy your 2022 reads, and let me know if you do end up reading some (or all) of these!

I’m terrible at TBRs as well, but I have Cemetery Boys on my physical TBR and would love to read it in 2022. If you want we could attempt to buddy read it in January! (But just know that I am as terrible with buddy reads as I am with TBRs!)

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries December 27, 2021 at 8:34 pm

Haha, I’m also just as terrible with buddy reads as I am at TBRs! 😂 But if you’re okay with that, I would love to buddy read it with you! (Or attempt to, at least – lmao I’m literally laughing to myself typing this because it sounds like you get my pain!)

    Goodluck with the tbr! Xx
Im more of a mood reader; so I prefer leaving me lots of wiggle rooms and only have 5books per seasons on my tbr (so that I can juggle other books among with the 5)

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries December 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm

Thank you so much! Oh, only 5 per season is a really good idea, though! I think it’s good that you give yourself more room for mood reading! Good luck with your reading as well!

        Thank you!
That’s potentially the only way for me to set tbrs 😅 but it does works pretty well for me! So that’s awesome!

I don’t usually do yearly TBRs but I am contemplating pulling one together this year. I have the sequel to The Bone Shard Daughter checked out from the library right now and Comfort Me With Apples is waiting to be picked up – so those will probably be my first reads in the new year 🙂

I’m sorry, I don’t know how I missed this comment! But I hope you enjoy(ed) your reading! 😀

So many good books on this list! Like Addie LaRue, Maxican Gothic and The Bone Shard Emperor!
I hope you will enjoy all of them!

House of Earth and Blood is on my TBR too, I’m just scared to read it because its so BIG LOL!

I love this post, I haven’t made a 2022 TBR (Or even a January TBR yet, for that matter LOL) but I love this and might have to do something similar, books I want to read in 2022~

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 7, 2022 at 3:45 pm

LOL it is ginormous!! But Maas has a way of making long books feel so fast to me, so I’m hoping it won’t feel as long as it actually is 😅

      • Reply frayedbooks January 7, 2022 at 3:47 pm

I’ve never actually read a Maas book before so this would be my first! (Unless I read ACOTAR before it….who KNOWS WHAT I’LL DO!) But thats good to hear her books feel like they go fast!

This probably comes as no surprise given Rogerson’s previous books, but Vespertine was SO GOOD. I didn’t know it was a duology until recently, and I am over the moon excited for the sequel.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 7, 2022 at 3:46 pm

I can’t wait! 😀 I loved her last two books SO much, that I feel like there’s no way I won’t love Vespertine. So glad you enjoyed it so much!!

  • Reply Kal @ Reader Voracious December 29, 2021 at 3:22 pm

I love that you included some books you set aside due to the slump on your tbr and sincerely hope the mood will be right this time around! The only book on your list I’ve read is A Dowry of Blood – which I LOVED. Happy reading, sweets!

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 7, 2022 at 3:47 pm

Thank you! Omg, I can’t wait for A Dowry of Blood. I think seeing you talk about it is what influenced me to put it on my Christmas list, and I ended up receiving it as a gift! 😀 I’ll have to message you my thoughts when I pick it up!

      • Reply Kal @ Reader Voracious January 7, 2022 at 6:27 pm

Please do message me when you pick it up, and if you can get the audiobook I recommend it! The writing is lyrical and it’s epistolary so it lends very well to the audio format!

I’m so excited for you and this list! I adored Ghost Squad and Cemetery Boys was a master piece. Truly, Aiden Thomas is a blessing. I think for both of these books it was the characters that made me really fall in love with them. Both authors did such a wonderful job! 💜

  • Reply Caro @ bookcheshirecat December 30, 2021 at 11:12 am

Good luck with your TBR! 🥰 I really loved Cemetery Boys, so I hope you enjoy it 😊 Vespertine, A Psalm for the Wild-Built and House of Earth and Blood are also on my TBR 📚

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 7, 2022 at 3:48 pm

Thank you! I can’t wait to read Cemetery Boys. I think I’m picking it up today! As far as the others you mentioned, would you by any chance like to buddy read A Psalm for the Wild-Built in February or March? 👀 No pressure, but let me know if you want to!! I’d love to do a buddy read with you soon if you’re in the mood!

      • Reply Caro @ bookcheshirecat January 8, 2022 at 11:10 am

Yes, I’d love to buddy read A Psalm for the Wild-Built!! 💕 I’ll have to wait for my library hold to come in though (it says about 6 weeks) so I could let you know when I get it 😊

        • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 14, 2022 at 8:06 pm

That sounds great, just let me know whenever you’re ready! Since it’s so short, I shouldn’t really need any notice in advance 😀

  • Reply Annemieke December 31, 2021 at 8:25 am

Oh so many good ones. Mexican Gothic and Ghost Squad were awesome.
Cemetery Boys, Psalm and The Bone Shard Daughter were great too 😀 I hope you will love them all.

Good luck with your TBR! Some of the books on my 2022 TBR are The Burning God and Graceling series!

  • Reply Laura Beth January 2, 2022 at 11:41 am

Best of luck with your TBR! I need to do a new TBR post in January. I was doing a quarterly post, but fell massively behind and forgot about it until recently. Thanks for the inspiration to start again!

Thank you! I’m so happy to hear it inspired you and I hope you achieve your goals 🙂
