2024 Goals: a handful of bookish AND personal goals I’m setting

January 1, 2024

Happy New Year! It’s time for my final 2024 goals post: life and reading resolutions ✨

If you missed them, I’ve also posted my 2024 TBR and my 2024 series goals!

I always get such a kick out of setting resolutions and goals for the new year. I think this time of year can be such an optimistic, hopeful time, and while I always set goals with the knowledge that I might not accomplish them all (and that’s okay!), it’s fun to think of things I’d like to improve in my day-to-day life (bookish and non-bookish!).

📚 bookish goals 📚

✅ current reads:

  1. I’m continuing my “6 current reads at a time” limit from 2023 since it’s really helped me not to feel so overwhelmed.
  2. I want to make weekly progress on EVERY current read. If I don’t make progress on a current read for an entire week, I have to either prioritize it or put it “on hold” until I’m ready to focus on it.

✅ reviews:

  1. I want to start writing reviews within 48hrs of completing the book so I don’t put them off until I forget what I want to say. 😅
  2. I need to start taking reading notes again! I really miss taking notes while reading and they made writing reviews so much easier.

✅ content creation:

  1. I need to get back to a regular posting schedule! I love writing blog posts but if I don’t plan a schedule in advance, I just forget to write them.
  2. I’ve enjoyed making some reels this year and I’d really like to make them more often, plus it would allow me to be more active on my tiktok account. My goal is 1 video per week right now.
  3. I want to blog hop more! For the past several months I’ve only been checking the blogs I already follow, but I’d love to find more bloggers to check out!

✅ misc. reading goals:

  1. I’m repeating my 2023 goal to read 350 or more days out of the year.
  2. I’d like to mood read more and stop pressuring myself so much with my TBR lists!
  3. I’m going on a book ban! Other than my subscription boxes and some special editions, I’m going to try to start only buying physical books if I know I’m going to read them VERY soon. I’m also going to try to start checking the library/Everand/Hoopla for every book before I buy it so I can utilize my loan programs more!
  4. I REALLY need to get on top of my ARC releases and start reviewing them in a more timely manner.
  5. I made a TBR jar that’s color-coded between prompts (like “a book hauled this year”, “a book from an author you love”, etc.) and specific titles at the top of my TBR. My goal is to pick 2 prompts and 2 specific titles from the jar every month.

✨ life goals ✨

✅ physical health:

I won’t go into too much detail here, but I definitely want to focus more on my physical health this year, mainly with what I eat, my hydration levels, and moving around more. I’d like to get back into a good yoga/pilates routine and start doing some weight-lifting at home. I miss when my body used to feel strong and I’d like to get back to that feeling!

✅ home:

I made myself some new cleaning lists for the week and month and I’m going to try sticking to those. I keep my house pretty tidy but I’m not always great at remembering the deep-cleaning stuff and I want to get better about that! I’m also trying to start having Isaac help with chores more now that he’s getting older, so I’ve made a nightly list of bedtime chores that he can help me with and I even printed out a cute little list to tape to the fridge. 😄

✅ mental health:

My mental health is in SUCH a better place than it was even a year ago, but there’s always room for improvement! I’d like to start journaling more often again and tracking my daily moods and stress levels, plus I want to get back into using my oracle and tarot cards.

Do you have any goals for 2024? I’d love to hear all about them!

    1. For easily checking library/Everand/Hoopla I use Library Extension, a browser extension that I put my libraries into (my local wasn’t on there but they had a email to contact them to add any not there and they were nice and added it) and check boxes for everand, hoopla etc. and websites to use it on, like Goodreads (and Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc.). I love the extension, saves so much money and time!
For goals I plan to write and publish my first novel!
I also plan to try to use my tarot cards more and get back into practicing…I keep saying that every year though…but maybe, I think, this year is finally the year 🙂

    1. Having a set schedule for writing posts is a great idea, and I might have to do that myself, too! I’m so bad at making myself just sit down and write even if I already know exactly what’s going in the post. Happy New Year!

    1. Aww happy to hear your mental health is better 🥰

Yess bloghop 👏🏼👏🏼 id love to find more french content.. as im lacking french books 💀 im struggling to find some that interrests me.

    1. Happy New Year, my lovely, Destiny! 😍 I hope you have a wonderful year full or the best experiences and the best reads. ❤️
And of course, best of luck with both your reading and personal goals, you will do amazing this year!!!! 🥳👏🏻
Plus, I think it’s an excellent idea to write the book review within 48hs of reading it, I used to do this and I realize today was the best option, when all the thoughts and feelings about the book are still fresh 👍🏻✨️

    1. these look like great goals! i get you on planning content or forgetting about them, i want to start planning this year (after… 2 years lol). all the best with your goals!

    1. These are really great goals! I’m also trying to journal and plan more this year, I did it every day through December and it’s really been helping me so far. And I’m on a book buying ban too – we can do this! 😁

    1. Wonderful goals, wishing you all the very best with them! 🥰 so happy to hear your mental health has improved, that’s an area I definitely want to try and work on, this year, as well!

    1. I love that you have “6 current reads at a time” as a limit – I feel like if I said the same thing, it would be a goal to strive for haha (at most I may have three on the go). The related goal of making weekly progress on each one sounds pragmatic! I also have a goal of getting into a yoga routine but ooof it is hard to prioritize when there are so many other things to do… like reading all the books… 😛 Anyway, good luck with your goals! I hope they make your 2024 a great year 😊
