April 30, 2018

I mean… this month’s number is technically lower than last month’s was, and I paid nothing at all for about half of these… so I don’t even feel bad.

I do the trading thing too and got a ton of stuff! Looks like you got some awesome stuff 🙂

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:20 am

Don’t you love it? It’s such a good way to get new stuff without spending a fortune and you get to clear out some of the old, too! 🙂 I’m the worst ever at “unhauling” except for where trades are concerned.

      • Reply MetalPhantasmReads May 5, 2018 at 6:21 pm

Yeah, except for the occasional person trying to underhand you which is rude. But luckily it’s been pretty good. What about you?

        • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 7, 2018 at 10:13 pm

Oof, yeah, that is the worst. 🙁 I’ve had that happen to me a couple of times. Thankfully it isn’t too often, but when it happens, it really sucks. The worst is when you’re sending a really “good” item, like a hyped ARC or something – that’s so nerve-wracking!

          • MetalPhantasmReads May 8, 2018 at 4:38 pm

Yeah no kidding! It’s just been hard lately because all people want are fall 2018 and even 2019 ARCs that are hard to come by in the first place…first world problems? LOL

          • Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 11, 2018 at 2:07 am

Ugh, yep! Lol I know exactly what you mean and it’s tough.

  • Reply confessionsofayareader April 30, 2018 at 12:27 pm

You got so many great physical arcs! I think this will push me to start e-mailing publishers again. Great haul! We got some of the same books. Mine will be up Saturday.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:22 am

Thank you! You should definitely start – I’ve been having pretty decent luck lately! I have to say that I’m emailing requests in a lot LESS frequently than I used to just because I’m being pickier with my ARCs, plus I don’t mind eARCs when they’re available, but it’s always so nice to get a physical one – especially if it’s a book that hasn’t been put on Edelweiss or Netgalley yet!

      • Reply confessionsofayareader May 2, 2018 at 11:04 am

There are a few that I want that aren’t available on edelweiss or netgalley. I doubt I’ll get them, but I’m going to try. Right now I’m just trying to find e-mails for publishers and then I’ll start requesting.

Great haul! I really need to read the Wicked Deep and the Astonishing Color of After some time! <3

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:23 am

Thank you! They both sound so good and are getting such awesome reviews. I’m actually reading The Astonishing Color of After this month for my facebook group’s Asian/Pacific American Heritage Event and I’m super excited, but I hear it’s gonna be a real tearjerker too haha.

  • Reply CJR The Brit April 30, 2018 at 1:19 pm

Wow that is a great haul!

  • Reply Madalyn @ Novel Ink April 30, 2018 at 1:20 pm

You have such a great haul this month! YAY for all of the Schwab books. Leah was my favorite book I read in April! I also loved Astonishing Color of After and Meet Cute. I’m currently reading What If It’s Us, and it’s giving me everything I need. I hope to get to Escaping From Houdini soon! Curious to hear your thoughts on Undead Girl Gang, since I’ve had my eye on that one for a while.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:25 am

Thank you! ♥ Oh my gosh, I’m so freaking excited for ALL OF THOSE. Lmao! We must have similar reading tastes, love! ♥ I’m soooo glad to hear you’re enjoying WiiU (LOL – I love the acronym too much!). I think I’m going to read it for a Pride event in June! And my review for Undead Girl Gang is actually going live in the morning (Wednesday), I’m hoping it will help stir up some hype because I have not heard enough people talking about it and it was AMAZING.

  • Reply Flavia April 30, 2018 at 1:20 pm

Epic haul! And I’m super jealous to see that Escaping from Houdini ARC! I really hope I’ll get one when I can apply for it hehe. Great post! <3

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:26 am

Thank you, love! ♥ Ooooh I reeeeaaaally hope you get one! If you do, and if I haven’t read mine yet, let me know if you wanna buddy read it!

  • Reply ShootingStarsMag April 30, 2018 at 1:27 pm

Oh wow, you have Escaping from Houdini! I’m so jealous. I hope it’s a good one – love the first two. Yay for getting so many awesome books this month.

Thank you so much, Lauren! Yeah, it was a REALLY good month – I think Escaping from Houdini was the item I was most excited about in April. I can’t wait to read it!

  • Reply becandbones April 30, 2018 at 9:19 pm

You always have the most fantastic hauls!
I’m excited to hear what you think of Sawkill Girls, I’m anticipating that book so much and was super bummed about getting declined for it.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:31 am

Thank you! I’m so sorry you got declined for Sawkill Girls. 🙁 See, times like this are when I wish I worked in publishing so I could just be like Oprah. “ARCs for you, and ARCs for you, ARCs for everybody!” lmao ♥♥

      • Reply becandbones May 2, 2018 at 10:54 pm

        Haha, that would be fantastic.
It sucks but I’m still looking forward to getting my hands on it eventually. Sawkill Girls and Broken Things by Lauren Oliver are my most anticipated LGBT+ releases right now.

        • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 7, 2018 at 9:57 pm

I haven’t read anything by Lauren Oliver in a long time, so I’ll have to check out Broken Things!

  • Reply Ellyn April 30, 2018 at 9:30 pm

    OML DESTINY THIS HAUL THO!
You got so many great books this month and you’re getting me so hyped for all the books!
I’m hoping to read Leah & Circe this month so I hope you enjoy them!

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:32 am

Thank you! I’m hoping to read Leah in either May or June! And Circe… I just can’t say enough about how much I loved Circe. I hope you love it, too!

  • Reply emmareadstoomuch April 30, 2018 at 10:02 pm

YOU BOUGHT YOU!!!! omg omg. hurray. honestly the queen of hauls

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:32 am

I did!! I was honestly SO torn on it because like… I wasn’t sure if it was gonna be for me, you know? But then I realized that literally almost every one of my friends who has read it loved it, so I had to try it ♥

  • Reply Haadiya @ The Starlit Reader April 30, 2018 at 10:49 pm

    OMG THIS HAUL!!!
Also hope you enjoy Leah and all the crooked saints because THEY ARE SO GOOD ♥

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:33 am

Thank you, Haadiya! ♥ I actually read All the Crooked Saints last fall and LOVED it – I just finally decided to add a finished copy alongside my ARC! I want to get them signed by her soooo bad because that book seriously meant the world to me. I’m also really hoping Leah is everything I want it to be! ♥ So glad you loved them both!!

      • Reply Haadiya @ The Starlit Reader May 7, 2018 at 1:42 am

Well on second thought i don’t like leah when I think about it but I hope you do!!! aALSO OMG ALL THE CROOKED SAINTS IS SO BEAUTIFUL

  • Reply Norrie May 1, 2018 at 2:51 am

I got All The Crooked Saints too <3 I must admit, i bought it cuz the cover was pretty and it was super cheap in the charity shop. Didn't even know what the story was about.
I so wanna read Life Like as well!! 🙂

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:36 am

Oh man, you are totally in for a treat! Well, at least, I HOPE you like it – I read an ARC of it last fall and adored it. It has incredible own-voice OCD rep, and it just tackles a lot of mental health related issues in a very subtle sort of way that I thought was just so well done. ♥ Let me know what you think when you get around to it!

  • Reply Jenna @ Falling Letters May 1, 2018 at 2:55 pm

Wow, so many beautiful hardcovers! *-* I picked up a couple Tolkien-related books at an used bookshop that I had been keeping an eye out for for awhile.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries May 2, 2018 at 1:54 am

Yesss, I’m such a sucker for hardbacks – I love how much more durable they are, especially since I have a wild toddler who’s suddenly become a fan of books, lol! Oooh, that’s awesome! kudos on the finds! 😀

  • Reply Annemieke May 3, 2018 at 7:27 am

Yeay so many pretty books. I’ll be curious to see what you will think of The Archived and the Unbound. I really liked those. 😀
