Wrap Ups

April Wrap: The month of failed readathons!

May 2, 2019

April was a weird month, in that I totally, epically failed at my readathon goals. OWLs? Nope. 25inFive? Not a chance. Even the two readathons I HOSTED in my own Goodreads group were a sham! ?

I decided at the end of April that I think I’m not cut out for readathons. The ones that I host myself are usually fine, but I can’t remember the last time signing up for someone else’s readathon went well for me! *sigh*

Movies & TV Watched this Month:

Toni Collette and Milly Shapiro in Hereditary (2018)

  • Hereditary — 4 ⭐
    • I finally watched this! I really loved it until the last 5-10 minutes, when everything got really… weird and nonsensical?

My Favorite Posts from OTHER Bloggers This Month:

This is really awful, and I feel so bad, but I have to leave this space blank this month because… well, writing this post made me realize I have done SO POORLY at blog hopping in April, I haven’t even saved any posts to link here! (I typically bookmark posts throughout the month and then compile them all in this list when the month ends.)
I feel absolutely awful, and I thought about just erasing this whole section from this month’s wrap-up and hoping nobody would notice, but I realized that this was actually extremely eye-opening for me to make sure that I don’t let myself fall into the habit of just posting without actually interacting. ♥
If you’re still reading this, please drop a link in the comments of a recent post YOU made on YOUR blog that you’re proud of, and I’ll check it out!

I’m right there with you! I totally wanted to do OWLs, but I just couldn’t make the time.

It’s so hard sometimes to manage these big readathons. 🙁 A bunch of my friends are doing the NEWTs and it makes me a little sad to miss out lol!

This year has been a total reading flop for me apart from a few gems I’ve read. I actually have to work up the enthusiasm to read…..but when I do, it’s all good. I think I’m a bit broken ?

Has it gotten any better for you? 🙁 This year has been rough for a lot of us as far as reading goes and I wonder why!

      • Reply CJR The Brit August 6, 2019 at 12:40 pm

A bit. I seem to have changed to bunge reading on weekends and then during the week I’m meh!
It is really strange as a lot of people seem to be going through ot this year, I’m hoping it goes away soon!

Still it looks like you had an awesome wrap up! I’m curious of what you’ll think of the Devouring Gray when you get back to it. I finally bought it on Kindle lol 😛

I get quickly overwhelmed if I sign up for too many reading challenges or readathons. I end up spending more time tracking what book was for what readathon etc than actually reading, lol.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries August 6, 2019 at 1:15 am

Bahaha I FEEL THIS SO MUCH. I seriously think I jinx myself with readathons sometimes because it seems like I’m cursed to just end up wasting all my reading time.

I’m terrible at readathons as well! I think it has to do with being a mood reader. I never seem to have the book on hand that I’m both interested in, and that fits the prompts/challenges. Plus, I find that I’m always busiest the week of readathons. I hope you have a wonderful May!

I barely finished the OWL readathons and totally bombed the Buzzfeed Unsolved one ? But hey April was a really busy month that I barely read anything- at least you’ve been reading a lot! 😀 I hope May would be a better month for you!

I really want to read Wicked Saints soonish. I’ve heard mixed things but it just sounds so much like my thing that I really have this feeling I’ll like it! The cover of Wayward Sisters is very cool and I’m totally in love with the color scheme. I need to watch Hereditary as soon as possible because it’s supposed to be atmospheric and psychological and that totally sounds like something I’d enjoy. I wrote two posts that I really loved in the last two months: The Pancake Book Tag and Characters that are just so Hufflepuff: <3 https://softheartswarmeyes.wordpress.com/2019/03/13/t5w-tv-movie-literature-characters-that-are-just-so-hufflepuff/

I feel like April was tough for a lot of people this time around! Here’s to hoping May will be better :]

We all have those months where blog hopping is just at a low. <3 Don't worry too much about it.
Monstress! I'm getting it for Mother's Day and I really hope I love it too.

Great wrap up, Destiny! I actually set aside Descendant of the Crane for now too – I feel like I need to wait until I finish finals before diving into that one! I’ve been horrendous at blog hopping since I’ve been on a hiatus, but I’m slowly catching up now! 🙂
I just published my first post in over a month the other day. Here’s the link! <3

I have definitely fallen into the trap of not interacting as much as I should, so I totally understand that (I’m just now trying to get caught up on reading the past two weeks of posts!). But don’t beat yourself up about it!! Life happens and it’s totally understandable that sometimes, you aren’t able to do all of the things you want and it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to do them all in the future, either. <3
One post I was (strangely) proud of was a music/book tag I did! It's here: https://thoughtsstainedwithink.com/2019/04/24/the-omg-that-song-tag/

Omg girl I had a similar issue in April — I did nooo blog hopping and had to leave out my links section! As you can see, I’m making an effort to get caught up now. I’ve just been too distracted and tired to do anything weh.

I finally got a liiiittle bit better about blog hopping over the last month, but at the expense of my own comment replies, as you can see ?

    Say hello! ♥
