“Currently Reading” Tag

October 27, 2017

Hello, lovelies! I’m so sorry to have gone MIA over the last two days. I had a lot of personal things going on that were very stressful (like taking care of a sick little bear), and grad school has kept me so busy this semester that I haven’t been able to schedule my posts as far in advance as I’d like to, which means busy days = no posts! I was hoping to knock out a few reviews for you guys this week, too, but I have five RTCs and no motivation in sight, so I appreciate the patience, haha! <3

Since I didn’t have the muse to write reviews, I decided to go with the Currently Reading Tag, which Ariana over at The Quirky Book Nerd tagged me in a little while ago!

How many books do you usually read at once?

It totally varies, but never less than two. My preference is to always have one physical book and one ebook going at the same time, and for at least one of my current reads at any given time to be an ARC. That said, sometimes I get carried away and end up with way more than two – I’ve spent most of this month with 5-8 books on my “currently-reading” shelf at any given time.

If you’re reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?

I generally just go by mood, though if I’m near the end on any of the books, I’ll usually try to focus on knocking those out. Or, if one of my current reads is an ARC that’s about to release, I always try to give it a little extra attention.

Do you ever switch bookmarks while you’re partway through a book?

I don’t think I’ve ever done this unless I lost/damaged my current bookmark. Is this a thing?

Where do you keep the book(s) you’re currently reading?

Usually in a stack on the corner of my desk.

What time of day do you spend the most time reading?

Definitely the late evenings, after my son has gone to bed.

How long do you typically read in one sitting?

If the kiddo is asleep, 2-4 hours. If he’s awake, I’m lucky to get 30 uninterrupted minutes haha!

Do you read hardbacks with the dust jacket on or off?

Off! I leave the dust jackets on a shelf where they’re safe.

What position do you mainly use to read?

I’m usually sitting up when I read, which is god-awful for my neck, but it’s what works for me. If I do lay down, I’m usually on my stomach, propped up on my elbows.

Do you take the book you’re currently reading with you everywhere you go?

I take my kindle EVERYWHERE with me, plus I have the kindle app on my phone in case I forget to actually bring the ereader, but as far as physical books go, I don’t typically bring it with me unless I’m going on a reasonably long car ride.

How often do you update your Goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?

I rarely update my page #/percentage progress unless I’m sharing a quote or commenting on something happening in the book.

If I didn’t tag you but you want to do this tag, please feel free – just ping back here so I can check out your answers!

    1. For some reason it’s really hard for me to read only one book at a time. Since I’ve gotten a NetGalley I’ve been reading one physical book/one e-ARC at the same time. It helps even out the attention I give to them so I don’t have loads of ARCs but nothing else to read haha! If I had a child I don’t think I’d ever get any reading done lol!

      1. It’s hard for me, too! I’ve tried to focus on just one book at a time but it never lasts long, lol. And yes, I definitely read a LOT more before he became, er… “mobile”, haha! Now he runs all over the place and runs me ragged, but I sure wouldn’t trade him for the world.

    1. Really cool tag! Definitely something I’d love to write about. Not sure how you can read so many books, but that’s also a skill I’d love to practice. Hope you’re feeling better!

Say hello! ♥
