June '18 Haul (And a Book Ban Update!)

June 29, 2018

As I mentioned in my May haul, I started a book ban this month, and I did really well with it! I’ll recap the rules for my ban below, but basically, everything that I hauled this month was a May purchase that hadn’t delivered yet, OR it fit into at least one of the following guidelines:

1. eBooks on sale for $2.99 or less = free game!
2. ARCs & trades = a-okay!
3. Pre-existing pre-orders = go for it!
4. ALL OTHER PURCHASES: must be read within ONE WEEK of purchase!

    1. I love how you break down you ban haha. Although I would still fail with it. I am destined to fail bans, always (it is written in my blood). Btw, your photos are great! Are you on Instagram? Looking at your blog to see. Your haul was still magnificent ? Mine was rather large, but I had a birthday so I allow it haha.

      1. Haha thank you! I actually think I’m gonna try to lock it down a little on ebook sales, too. I have a post going up later this month where I went back and looked at my old haul posts, and figured up the stats on how many are still unread. I found out that I have been reading almost NONE of the ebooks I’ve been buying! I guess it’s because I prefer physical books and so 99% of the ebooks that I read are ARCs, not purchases. It made me cringe big time because, yeah, they’re only $2-3 each, but when it adds up to literal HUNDREDS of titles… sheesh. But I feel you on being destined to fail. They’re so hard! I broke mine just a few minutes ago to order one book, but it was just a $3 copy of the first book in the Mercy Thompson series so I can read it for the throwback event. And as you’ve already seen, yes I’m on IG! Huge birthday hauls are ALWAYS allowed!

        1. Haha ebook sales always get me! I cannot say no, yet I have hundred on my Kindle that have sat unread. And now, my symptoms are driving me back to physical copies, so they will sit longer. It stinks because I may have to stop with Netgalley for a while when I catch up ? I will be waiting for your post! Very curious to see that stats ?

    1. That’s awesome about your book ban 🙂 I’m doing one for July and August and I’m curious to see how it goes. I do love that cover of Beneath the Citadel too. I’m curious of what you think of it 🙂

    1. Sheesh matey! Fer having a book ban that is a fierce number of books. Glad to see yer Book Code and the ways in which you increase yer loot! Arrrr!

    1. Omg I feel like I need to reread Fruits Basket now, it’s been well over ten years since I was obsessed with it.

        1. That’s so so good to know, I’m always afraid things won’t live up to my memories of them!

    1. Awesome haul! I love the book restrictions too! sometimes we have to do this to ourselves, or we’ll never read these damn books ?

    1. I feel in June I ended up buying a total of 3 books and then the rest were books I got at Bookcon. I also got one preorder. So it ended up not being too much. I’m trying not to buy too many books because I acquired so many and I’m behind on arcs as well.

      1. That’s awesome! 😀 Way to go. And yeah… I feel you on ARCs, ugh. I actually am already looking at my August TBR just a little bit because it’s going to be ARC-themed, and I’m trying to decide if I want to read some early, read some backlist ones that have already come out, or a mix of both.

        1. Oh that sounds like fun. I need to spend a month dedicated to arcs but then I get distracted by books and I just want to read them all so I can never fully stick to it. I would like to try since I have been behind lately.

          1. Haha same! I always say I will do an ARC-only month but I’m really so bad at it. I really need to do backlist ARCs too. I don’t remember if you saw my TBR jar on twitter but I put all of my backlist ARCs in the jar so hopefully I will pull them randomly and be forced to finally read them lol.

            1. I did see you talking about the TBR jar. I know I commented on a poll you posted and picked that for what to read next. I think I need to make one for all the books I currently own. I need to focus on reading those.

            1. I think I might but keep it for only the books I own. It will take me ages if I put all the books on my current TBR on there.

            1. Oh yeah, that’s what I did! My owned TBR was a few hundred but my Goodreads TBR shelf is like… almost a thousand. And I was like NOPE NOT DOING THAT, lol!

    1. That’s another huuuge pile of books. I’m amazed you actually stuck to your guidelines – but maybe that’s more my own failing in book buying bans than anything else speaking. I keep hoping others will mess up as hard as I am with them. HAH. :’)

      1. Bahaha! I’ve been surprised by how well I have done! I almost messed up a few times but managed not to. The only time I’ve broken it so far was by buying a $3 paperback of Moon Called by Patricia Briggs, but it’s for the throwback event, and if I can start it within the next few days, it won’t count as breaking my ban. 😀 So, I’m gonna try, heh.

Say hello! ♥
