Another month, another TBR batch of unrealistic goals ~
May, like every month so far this year, flew by in a whirlwind and *insert obligatory monthly mention of how I can’t believe it’s a new month already here* — but honestly, it was a pretty good month! We settled into our new life with the kittens (who are doing great), I read more than I have in the past couple of months, I planned out a bingo event in my bookish discord (let me know if you’d like to join us!), and I got back in touch with my inner hermit by allowing myself to prioritize my needs and goals again. It was nice. ♥
May goal check-in:
- Read everyday ❌ — SO CLOSE! I only missed 2 days in the whole month, which honestly still feels like a HUGE success.
- Catch up on all of my buddy reads ❌ — Also nope, but I made progress!
- Three blog posts per week ✅— YES! I actually did this goal, and in fact, I think I did more than 3 posts in one or two weeks.
My goals for May are:
I’m re-using two of my May goals that I didn’t meet, plus adding a new one.
- Read everyday
- Catch up on all of my buddy reads
- Catch up on all of my unwritten reviews (I think I have about 8!)
june’s picks:
Because June is Pride Month here, I’ll be notating every queer book and/or queer author with a little 🌈 emoji! 💖
I decided not to include any of the books that I want to read to catch up on my annual/seasonal TBRs, and to just put the “top priority” books and my Books Out of the Blue Bingo TBR! First, let’s talk about bingo. For the event, I made several different cards people could choose from, and I’m going to start with one of the smaller cards first. If I finish it before the event ends on July 31st, I’ll pick another card, too! (If that happens before I post my July TBR, I’ll probably write a separate bingo update/TBR post between now and then.)
🌈 Square³ // Mira Grant: spooky + one-word title
☀️ The Visible Filth // Nathan Ballingrud: shortest on (physical) TBR + released 5+ years ago
🌈 How to Vex a Vampire // Alice Winters: re-read
☀️ Anybody Home? // Michael J. Seidlinger: top of my TBR
☀️ Sleeping Giants // Sylvain Neuvel: blue (teal?) cover + start a new series (and I’m buddy reading it with Misty!)
And now, for the rest of my June TBR picks:
☀️ Mapping the Interior // Stephen Graham Jones: TBR jar pick
☀️ Broken Beautiful Hearts // Kami Garcia: TBR jar pick
🌈 A Taste of Gold and Iron // Alexandra Rowland: highly anticipated ARC
☀️ The Ghost That Ate Us // Daniel Kraus: highly anticipated ARC
🌈 The Many Half-Lived Lives of Sam Sylvester // Maya MacGregor: buddy read with Malli!
☀️ Three Days in the Pink Tower // E.V. Knight: highly anticipated ARC
🌈 The Death of Jane Lawrence // Caitlin Starling: TBR & Beyond group read
☀️ Book of Night // Holly Black: highly anticipated review copy
☀️ Just Like Mother // Anne Heltzel: highly anticipated review copy
What are you reading this month?

I’m so excited about our buddy read!!
I’m sorry our buddy read wasn’t as exciting as we hoped it would be, but I really have enjoyed reading it with you! Sorry I fell behind schedule a bit!
I loved buddy reading with you and whenever you finish we can talk about our thoughts. There’s no rush at all.
Loving the bingo, as you know! 🥰 You also got me interested in How to Vex a Vampire, as I hadn’t heard about it at all! I’ll be adding it to my TBR 😊
Thank you! I’m so glad. 🥰 Oh my gosh, How to Vex a Vampire is SO silly and fun – definitely recommend it!
