May ’18 Haul (& Returning to My Ban!)

May 30, 2018

What up, this is my 400TH POST! Thanks for sticking with me through so much of my nonsense, you amazing book dragons!

Now, with you all as my witness, I am back on a legitimate book ban after this post. My shelves are full, my TBR is beyond hope, and my bank account is in a constant state of grieving. I was very successful at my summer book ban last year, so wish me luck!

I’m going on a book ban for all of June and July, with the same rules applying as last year’s ban:

1. eBooks on sale for $1.99 or less = free game!
2. ARCs & trades = a-okay!
3. Pre-existing pre-orders = go for it!
4. ALL OTHER PURCHASES: must be read within ONE WEEK of purchase!

Now… for the haul!

    1. I only bought books while I was with my family in Florida, supporting one of the independent book shops down there.

    1. Ugh, I do not even want to talk about my current TBR ? But I see you scored some promising reads! Best of luck on the “ban” as I always fail miserably. It starts with those Kindle deals and just spirals out of hand.

      1. Bahaha I feel you! Awww, thank you. I did really well on my summer ban last year so I am just hoping I can do it again this year! I feel so silly because I was really proud of myself – right after midnight on the 1st, I saw a coupon for Book of the Month’s sub box, and was like, “Ooh, I should re-sub for this month and get this one book I’ve been wanting!” And I was literally in mid-checkout when I realized it was after midnight and my ban had “officially” started… so I got super grumpy with myself and closed the browser, LMAO. But afterwards I was ridiculously proud. ? ? ?

    1. Woah that’s a lot of books lo!
I need to take a part of this book ban with you. Lord knows I’m all over the place with buying books!

    1. My fnger slipped with my May book haul…
I’m curious what you will think of The Girl from the Well. I’ve heard some good things but I have to read The Bone Witch by her first since I actually own that haha. I really enjoyed Spinning Silver though I didn’t find it as good as Uprooted, but still pretty good. And so lucky to find Oathbringer in hc on bookoutlet. Those are otherwise so expensive!

      1. Bahaha “my finger slipped”… suuuuuure… 😉
I have had The Bone Witch since it came out and have NO idea why I haven’t read it yet, but Girl from the Well just really caught my eye, so hopefully I’ll enjoy Rin Chupeco’s writing! I’m probably starting Spinning Silver tomorrow and excited about it. And yes, Oathbringer was a real steal!

    1. So many amazing books! Oathbringer looks massive omg! I really want to start the series but, I think I’m going to wait until more books come out in the series!
Have you read Hush Hush before? What made you pick it up?

      1. It is HUGE! I think it’s about 1,200 pages? Something like that. Every book in the series is 1,000+, I think.
I haven’t read Hush Hush before, actually! Have you? I just always see it around goodreads and the person who wanted to trade with me really wanted a book I had, and this was the only thing in her stack I had heard of, so I was like, “Hey, why not?” lol

        1. I have read Hush HUsh before actually and it’s got a bit of a darker Twilight vibe, just with angels. It’s an intresting and quick read,I’ll be interested to see your thoughts on it!

    1. WOAH! THAT’S A LOTTA BOOKS! Your poor TBR…
I was pretty good, kept myself under control. I bought about 6 books.
The rest of the year though….. I probably won’t be able to hold back. There are so many good books coming out though! #notmyfaultidonthavemoneyanymore
      Happy Reading! 😀

    1. Wow, your 400th post?! That’s so amazing! How long have you been blogging for??
You got so many books this month! That’s pretty impressive. How many of them have you read? I’ve gotten about eight books this month and haven’t even read two of them

      1. Thank you! I started the blog in January of 2017. 🙂
I actually had to count and double check! I’m currently reading 1 from my haul, and have finished 4 – so, not nearly enough!

    1. You got Mirage! I’m so jealous; I’m dying to read that book after hearing more reviews about it. Hell House is seriously creepy and I’m curious to see what you think and Oathbringer is the best ever 🙂 awesome haul!

      1. I didn’t actually expect to be approved for Mirage, so that was such a nice surprise! And I’m so glad you liked Hell House and Oathbringer. I’m excited for both of those. I have all 3 of the books currently out in the Stormlight Archives series so far, but I haven’t read any of them yet (oops, lol)

        1. Ah you’re in for an awesome ride! It’s very easy to follow which Sanderson is always good at 🙂 So I can’t wait to see what you think!

u bought oathbringer! the stormlight achrives is one of my favourite series :>>>>

        1. i mean, they’re pretty intimidating when u see them all together on a shelf so i feel u lmao

            1. when i read the first two boks back in 2015, it took me like two weeks to finish each of them??? it’s worth it but who has the time !

    1. Omg I really want the Kitchen Tarot book!! I’ve been eyeing it for ages, hope you enjoy it. 🙂

      1. Thank you! I just started it not long ago and have barely touched it because I’ve been focusing on other reads, but I have REALLY enjoyed what I’ve read so far. Something nice about it is the fact that the author talks about diversity in tarot, and she lists the names of some decks that actually depict POC, queer couplings, etc. It’s really cool!

Say hello! ♥
