November 2023 TBR & Journal Spreads

November 1, 2023

Another month, another TBR ~

To literally nobody’s surprise, my October goals were way too lofty for the amount of family outings I attended. 😂 Between Halloween-y stuff, outdoor outings to enjoy the cooler weather, my birthday, and our anniversary, I felt like I was barely home all month! It was a really wonderful month and we made a ton of great new memories, but I’m also a little bit relieved to go into November, which is usually a pretty low-key month around here.

October goal check-in:

  • read 100+ pages per day
    • I didn’t succeed at this one every day, but it was a really good motivator and I did manage to hit 100+ pages at least 2/3 of the month!
  • 1 short story per day
    • I read almost NO short stories this month, so nope, I failed at this one.
  • finish all of my pre-October reads
    • Nope! I really thought for sure that I would do this goal, so I’m carrying it over this month.

My goals for November are:

  • read 100+ pages per day
  • finish all of my pre-November reads
  • read at least FIVE books from a previous 2023 TBR (seasonal, annual, whatever)

NOVEMBER’s picks:

I had big goals of making my November TBR MUCH smaller than my October list was, and this one is a good bit smaller, but… well, it’s me, so it’s still a little overzealous! 🤷‍♀️ This month’s Devour Your TBR (one of the Goodreads groups I host) theme is Remember November, so I’m going to TRY to also catch up on some books I haven’t read yet from TBR lists I made earlier this year!

🍁 Iron Flame // Rebecca Yarros → of course this is on my November TBR! Misty and I are buddy reading it as soon as our copies come in.
🍁 Intercepts // T.J. Payne → TBR & Beyond’s horror BOTM pick is a sci-fi horror this month!
🍁 The Whispering Dark // Kelly Andrew → Books Out of the Blue’s BOTM pick!
🍁 Boys in the Valley // Phillip Fracassi → I’ve been meaning to read my eARC of this for months. I hear it’s super scary!
🍁 Nestlings // Nat Cassidy → I haven’t read anything by this author yet but I’m OBSESSED with this cover and hoping the book is just as cool 👀

🍁 One Dark Window // Rachel Gillig → The publisher just sent me both books in this duology and I’m seeing all of my fellow romantasy lovers go feral over book 2 on IG, so I’ve gotta check out the hype!
🍁 A Court of Thorns and Roses & A Court of Mist and Fury // Sarah J. Maas → Misty and I are re-reading these and I can’t wait!
🍁 Christmas and Other Horrors // Ellen Datlow → I LOVE Christmas horror! I was going to save this for December, but I don’t think I can hold off that long.
🍁 Them // Mique Watson → I’m buddy reading this extreme horror novella with a friend’s book club! I haven’t heard much about this author but it sounds interesting.

NOVEMBER bujo spreads:

I liked how these spreads turned out! I feel like they didn’t photograph as nicely as they look IRL, but that’s how it goes sometimes. I’m just so excited to start using my new square bujo in 2024 that I think it’s made me feel a little less enthusiastic about my remaining 2023 spreads in this journal. 😅

    1. I’m so bad with finishing my previous reads ahhh. I THINK I’ll make a big goal of finishing all my current reads before the end of the year so at least I can have the day with a clean currently reading shelf. Until I add 3 at once lol.

      1. Bahaha I feel this in my soul! ? Once upon a time, back in… 2017, I think?, I managed to start January 1st with no current reads left from the previous year, and I’ve been chasing that high ever since, lmao

Say hello! ♥
