Another month, another TBR ~
Man, my September TBR was a struggle and I definitely didn’t finish all of it. 😩 I know that logically I should create a small TBR for October so I can have time to finish it all and my leftovers from September, but I have yet again signed up for too many buddy and group reads. 😅
September goal check-in:
- Read 50+ pages per day 🤷♀️ (I came really close, but there were a couple of days where I read less — I did read every day, though!)
- Read 1 short story (or more) per day ❌ (nope)
- Review everything I complete in September within 24 hours of completing it ❌ (HAHAHAH why did I think I could do this)
My goals for October are:
I keep hoping every month will be a little less busy than the one before it, but September is looking pretty full so I won’t even go into that spiel this time. 🙃
- Read 100+ pages per day (I know, it’s a big goal, but I’m going to try!)
- Read a short story every day (yep, thought I’d repeat this one!)
- Finish everything I started reading before October (currently 6 books — maybe 5 by the time this post goes live!)
OCTOBER’s picks:
Who gave me the right to make a TBR this big for October? Beats me. 😅 I signed up for a LOT of buddy and group reads, plus I picked several Halloween-y mood reads and review copies that I just really want to read this month.
🎃 The Woman in Cabin 10 // Ruth Ware→ I’ve been meaning to read a Ruth Ware book for years, so I signed right up to buddy read this one with Misty!
🎃 A Dowry of Blood // S.T. Gibson → This is on my fall TBR and Misty had it on her October TBR, so voila, another buddy read!
🎃 The Library of Shadows // Rachel Moore → This won the October BOTM pick for my Books Out of the Blue discord server.
🎃 All Hallows // Christopher Golden → TBR & Beyond’s October pick! I’ve heard a lot of hype about this author.
🎃 The Prettiest Girl in the Grave // Kristopher Triana → The splatterpunk pick for October in the new buddy read Discord my friend Charisa @theblackcatsbookmark hosts!
🎃 Partying with Pixies // Hazel Mack → We haven’t actually discussed buddy reading this one, but I’m just assuming I’m gonna be buddy reading it with Malli and Misty when it releases 😂
🎃 Frankenstein // Mary Shelley → Another random group read in my Discord! I can’t believe I’m finally going to read it 🤯
🎃 A Haunting on the Hill // Elizabeth Hand → I’m so excited to have gotten an eARC of this one! It blows my mind that this author was authorized to write an “official” sequel to The Haunting of Hill House!
🎃 Fall of Ruin and Wrath // Jennifer L. Armentrout → Bramble sent me a finished copy of this beauty and I just HAVE to read it ASAP and experience the hype for myself while it’s fresh!! 🔥
🎃 Snarl // John Boden → I bought this ebook and then Horror Aficionados announced the author was joining for a group discussion, so it was perfect timing and I hear good things about this author’s writing!
🎃 Maeve Fly // CJ Leede → I’m buddy reading this with Reg starting today and I’m really excited about it!
🎃 Fourth Wing // Rebecca Yarros (RE-READ) → Misty and I are re-reading this one before Iron Flame comes out!
🎃 The God Provides // Thomas R. Clark → This is another Horror Aficionados group read.
🎃 Dark Harvest // Norman Partridge → I bought this a few weeks ago on a whim at B&N and it feels like a perfect October read!
🎃 Halloween Fiend // C.V. Hunt → A super short Halloween story I’ve been meaning to read every October for the past few years.
🎃 Hell House // Richard Matheson → Another group read, this one with some friends on Instagram!
🎃 The Toll // Kealan Patrick Burke → Another Halloween short story!
OCTOBER bujo spreads:
Of course, I had to make Halloween spreads for October! I don’t draw in my bullet journal often, so I’m really pleased with how little Sam turned out. 🥰 And the “31 days of horror” page is for the 31 horror movies my spouse and I watch every October together!
