Readathons & Challenges TBRs

#ReadersCrossing Sign-Up & TBR

December 6, 2017

If you participated in (or watched from afar) #TheReadingQuest earlier this year, you’ll be delighted to know that Aentee from Read At Midnight has created another adorable gaming-themed readalong for us! This one is themed after Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and since AC is one of my favorite video game franchises of all time, I absolutely had to join in on this one!

It’s going to run from midnight December 10th to 11:59pm December 31st (your time zone!), and this one is much more relaxed than #TRQ was, as this one allows for books you started reading before the readathon begins! You can go here for more info, as well as a place to sign up, and sign-ups are open until the end of the month, so it’s okay if you’re a little late to join! You also don’t have to complete the challenges in order, unlike with #TRQ.

Here is the challenge board, and as you can see, a few of the squares don’t even require reading – just gaming!

As you know, I’m already doing my Facebook group’s Yule Bingo, so I’ll be combining those two challenges. Not all of my Yule TBR choices fit the #ReadersCrossing board, but I’m going to do my best!

Here is my TBR for the challenge:

CUTE track:
pink cover: Three Sides of a Heart (anthology)

COOL track:
contemporary: Miles Away From You – A.B. Rutledge
book award winner: The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
recommended by a friend: Mud Vein – Tarryn Fisher
set in your country: The Raven King – Maggie Stiefvater

NATURAL track:
animal on the cover: The Hazel Wood – Melissa Albert

SPORTY track:
superhero: Renegades – Marissa Meyer
main adventure plot: Everless – Sara Holland
2+ authors: Robots Vs. Fairies (anthology)

BONUS squares:
seasonal read: My True Love Gave to Me (anthology)
picked by a friend: Captive Prince – C.S. Pacat

Here are the details for progressing through the board:

  • All campers starts with 0 Experience Points (EXP), and each book completed for the challenge (in any format: physical, eBook, or audiobook will gain them 2 EXP.
  • #OwnVoices novels will give you an addition EXP point, instead of gaining 2 EXP for their completion, you’ll gain 3 EXP.
  • You will level up every time you get 10 EXP points. You begin at Level 1.
  • Tweeting or Instagram posts on the #ReadersCrossing will earn you points (every 5 tweets/photo will earn you 1 EXP). You can gain a maximum of 5 EXP for your social media interactions. These should be tweets related to the challenge such as comments on your current read, book recommendations, or posts about the game itself).

I’m stressed just doing the one bingo and here you are doing two! That’s pretty awesome. Good luck with both!

Thank you! I honestly wasn’t gonna do this one when I learned it overlapped with Yule Bingo, but I finally decided to just kinda half-ass this one lol.

Ooh! Sounds like fun! Already doing (and kinda failing) the 12 Books of Christmas challenge so might give this a go!

You could probably combine them really easily! 🙂 Happy reading and holidays, Megan!

This is a good list! I’m not sure how much I’ll have time for, but I’m going for the sport path. https://mountainsofbooksblog.wordpress.com/2017/12/06/readerscrossing-sign-up-post/

So excited to see you participating in this! I am thinking of doing this as well. I’ve been obsessing over this game so much lately so seeing a readathon for it is amazing. I think I’m going to attempt it. I have all these crazy goals for December so let’s see how this goes.

This is such a delayed response and I’m the worst, lmao, but you totally should do it too!

Thank you so much, love! <3 I'm honestly kinda half-assing this one since I'm also doing the Yule Bingo, lol!

Whoop! I thought about doing this one as well, but I’ve got way too much stuff to keep track of right now – outside of reading as well – that I just.. have to pass? Shame on me, haha.
I know you’ll do amazing! Have fun!

I don’t blame you~ I almost didn’t pick this one up and I’ve barely been keeping up with it, to be honest… whoops, lmao. <3 Thank you!

Haha, I know the feeling.. Every time I finish a book, it’s like starting a puzzle to figure out where to use the book in what prompt for which challenge.. :’)

Yeay I am participating as well though I don’t have a huge amount of books on my TBR for it. I’ll be glad to finish a few haha. Still it is always a lot of fun.

Yaaaaay! Good luck! I like how laid-back this one is compared to The Reading Quest and how intense it was, lol.

    Say hello! ♥
