October 5, 2019

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!

Physical Review Copies:

48211702. sy475

  • The Fearing #3: Air & Dust — John F.D. Taff [adult horror novella]
    • I’ve still gotta pick up #2, but I loved the first one so much that I’m sure I’ll love both of the next 2 installments! I’ll probably do a 2-for-1 review of them, unless anyone would rather me split them up.

Digital Review Copies:

  • Dreams of Lake Drukka / Exhumation — Mike Thorn [adult horror short story combo]
    • I loved Mike’s Darkest Hours collection so much that, when he reached out to me about this short story duo, I had to say yes! I’m reading it this weekend and then should have a special post coming for you guys later this month so keep an eye out!
  • Dead Meat: Day 1 — Nick Clausen [YA horror novella]
    • I loved Nick’s Human Flesh a little while back, so I was pretty excited to join his ARC review team this week and I really can’t wait to read this new series of his! It’s about zombies. 😀

Kindle Purchases/Freebies:

40623564. sy475

  • Fix Her Up — Tessa Bailey [adult romance]
    • After months of waiting to see if I could get this from the library, I finally got tired of waiting and bought it on my kindle a few nights ago. 😅

Physical Purchases & Gifts:

43573035. sy475

  • Assassin’s Apprentice (Illustrated Edition) — Robin Hobb [adult fantasy; pre-order]
    • I’ve never read anything by Robin Hobb, so I couldn’t tell you what possessed me to pre-order this almost a year ago, aside from, well… I like shiny illustrated things 👀

Library & Kindle Unlimited Borrows:

  • Night Trap, Vol. 1 — Cullen Bunn [adult horror graphic novel; hoopla]
    • A college-kids-lakehouse-vacation campy slasher story!
  • Idle Days — Thomas Desaulniers-Brousseau [adult hist-fic graphic novel; physical library loan]
    • Jerome dodges the Canadian WWII draft by fleeing to his grandfather’s old cabin, where he begins to hear rumors of murders and ghosts.
  • The Unsound — Cullen Bunn [adult horror graphic novel; physical library loan]
    • A new nurse starts her job at a psychiatric hospital with suspicious reputations, and gets sucked into a bizarre maze of supernatural occurrences and violent human riots.
  • Farmhand, Vol. 1: Reap What Was Sown — Rob Guillory [adult horror graphic novel; physical library loan]
    • A farmer uses his fields to grow usable human organs, but something scary and dark is growing with his crops (dun dun dun!).

Such a great Haul Destiny! I too couldn’t wait for my library, and waddled to get fix her up about a month or so ago! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it when you get a chance to read it! <3
