weekly check-in

It’s time for a weekly check-in!

life update

It’s been another good week! Unfortunately, I didn’t get the job I mentioned applying for last week, but I’m hoping something better is on its way. Other than that, we’ve been spending a LOT of time outdoors as a family, the kitties have been full of shenanigans, and best of all, today marks 8 years since my spouse and I started dating! 🥰🥰🥰

just finishedThis was a slower reading week than last week, but I spent most of my reading time this week working on House of Earth and Blood, and she thicc. I’m also gonna address the shocker in this list and say I’m devastated by how much the new Eric LaRocca book didn’t work for me, but I’ll have a review post up tomorrow explaining my thoughts, or you can click the title below and see my review on Goodreads now.

I have got to polish off some of these so I can work on the rest of my June TBR and try to finish some more Spring TBR reads before summer gets here! I can’t believe I’m almost done with House of Earth and Blood. It’s been incredible (and heartbreaking) and I can’t wait to see how it ends! Also, I started Fourth Wing right before bed last night and it was so hard to put it down and go to sleep after just a little bit, because it immediately sucked me in!

📚 current reads 📚

and everything else Isaac is suddenly on a Pokemon kick and has been watching the anime incessantly, which is unexpected, but fun 😅 I keep thinking I should get back into watching movies on my computer while I work, and then that would give me the option to update you all with something that isn’t just Isaac’s current obsession, but then I end up getting sucked into whatever he’s watching and, well… 🤷‍♀️

Heads up: you can always friend me on Letterboxd if you wanna see my movie mini reviews!

What are you reading right now, or what did you recently finish? Is anything exciting happening in your life? Let me know in the comments!

    1. My NetGalley request for Eric’s book was rejected so I probably won’t read it, lol. But super sad to hear it didn’t work. I’m curious to read your review. And yes, Fourth Wing really sucked me in too! I’m sad because there are so many haters out there, I think as a response to how popular it is. I thought it was excellent😁

      1. I’m sorry your request was declined – and surprised! 🙁 Maybe it’s for the best, lol. Fourth Wing has been wonderful so far! I’m thinking the same thing about the haters. 😂 I saw one person on Goodreads say that they were unfollowing every booktuber they follow who raved about it because “you all lied about the hype” and I was so taken aback by the amount of vitriol, LOL. Like, it’s okay not to like something but that doesn’t take away its bestseller status 😂

    1. Bummer about the job but you have a great attitude about it. I hope you get the next one!! Congrats on 8 years. <3 Fourth Wing was one that was really good!!

    1. I’m sorry to hear about the job you applied for. 🙁 Also 8 years to you and your spouse! That is so exciting.

I’m putting a request in for Hide because I see you gave it 4 stars. I really didn’t like the book but hope this does it justice. From what you said, it sounds like this works better. I’m worried they won’t approve me since I didn’t like the book but we shall see.

        1. Oh that is so good to hear! I hope I’m able to read it early. If not, I’ll pick it up when it comes out.

    1. I can’t believe we will be finish HOEAB very very soon. She’s definitely very thicc and I’m loving it so much!!

Say hello! ♥
