Weekly Check-in: taking time for self-care again ♥

weekly check-in

It’s time for a weekly check-in!

life update

I ended up hitting a burn-out point over the weekend, to the degree that my spouse had to talk me into taking a few days to seriously unwind and practice self-care. I think I had gotten into one of my usual workaholic ruts over the past few months, and I needed a couple of days to reset my perspective. 😅

This week has been better on that front, though it’s been stressful in other ways. I had to take Ceylon to the vet on Monday, and that was terrifying because she’s become one of my best friends in the world, but I’m so relieved the appointment went well—we’re waiting on results to check for hypothyroidism or anemia, but were able to rule out some other, much worse potential health risks that I was worried about.

We were also stressed about getting info on a new job my spouse is starting, but they got the official offer yesterday and it was excellent news! I’m hoping the week keeps going smoothly. ♥

We did have to cancel our day trip that was supposed to happen this week, due to all the bad weather we’re having, but we’ll reschedule it soon. Thankfully we’d been keeping it a secret from Isaac, so at least he doesn’t know and doesn’t have to be disappointed. 😩

just finished This was a pretty decent reading week for me! I finished Vespertine (which I adored), and it reminded me of how much I love Margaret’s writing so strongly that I immediately listened to the Sorcery of Thorns audiobook for a re-read (which is perfect timing, since I’m about to start Mysteries of Thorn Manor!).

For now, this section every week will be dedicated to the 3 books that I have the least pages remaining in!

and everything else I don’t think we watched anything this week at all! I really want to continue Cabinet of Curiosities and start Wednesday soon. I did do a little bit of audiobook gaming, though—mostly Coral Island and Dreamlight Valley, but I did also start a new hidden object game: Enigmatis 2: The Mists of Ravenwood.

Heads up: you can always friend me on Letterboxd if you wanna see my movie mini reviews!

What are you reading right now, or what did you recently finish? Is anything exciting happening in your life? Let me know in the comments!

    1. I loved
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I have been watching Wednesday with my daughter and it is awesome! We have 2 episodes left. I think you’ll like it.

    1. I loved Sorcery of Thorns when I read it. Maybe I should do a reread of it and I definitely need to read more of her books. I loved Wednesday. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.

      1. Oh you totally should check out her other books if you haven’t had the chance! They’re soooo good. They all have that really funny banter that Sorcery had – I think Vespertine might actually be her funniest book yet. I can’t wait to watch Wednesday and talk with you about it!!

    1. “Sorcery of Thorns” was such a good read. I really enjoyed that one! I’m glad to hear you took some time off and were able to get out of your workaholic rut. <3 Self-care is always important! It's good your spouse made you aware of it. =)
