Wrap Ups

What’s this? An actual, real life update post & wrap-up??

January 1, 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR! πŸ₯³πŸ₯‚βœ¨

This is my first post in 6-7 WEEKS, which is officially several weeks longer than I’ve ever gone without posting a blog post! While it was definitely needed, I did miss you guys a bit… so I thought I’d post a little update about where I’ve been, what I’m up to, and what I’ve read in October, November, and December!

Much as I expected when I made my last post announcing my semi-hiatus, I’ve spent most of my time gaming, working my new remote job, streaming, and spending time with my family. It’s been pretty awesome! Sadly, I haven’t been reading much (besides a handful of graphic novels in October), as the Epic No-Good Reading Slump of 2020β„’ continues to wage its war against me.Β That’s why I’m just throwing the last 3 months of 2020 into a single wrap-up. πŸ˜‚ Let’s get on with it, shall we?

EMOJI KEY:
✨ = review copy | πŸ” = reread | πŸ€— = buddy read
🎧 = audiobook | πŸ’» = Kindle Unlimited |
Β πŸ“œ = poetry | 🍰 = graphic novel/manga
🌻 = BIPOC rep | 🌈
= LGBTQ+ rep | 🌺 = disability and/or MI rep | πŸ’ž = fat rep

  • The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 2 β†’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ β†’ 🍰🌻 β†’ Not as cute as Vol. 1 but still VERY fun.
  • Vampires Never Get OldΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐ β†’ βœ¨πŸ€—πŸŒ»πŸŒˆπŸŒΊπŸ’ž β†’ What a tremendous disappointment. In hindsight, does this even deserveΒ three stars?
  • Teach MeΒ β†’ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 β†’ βœ¨πŸŒΊπŸ’ž β†’ So precious, so sweet, so fun.
  • The Bride Was a BoyΒ β†’ βββπŸ’« β†’ 🍰🌻🌈 β†’ Sweet and cute, if a bit clinical at times.
  • The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Vol. 2Β β†’ ⭐⭐⭐ β†’ 🍰🌻 β†’ I don’t think this series is for me.

  • The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 3Β β†’ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 β†’ 🍰🌻 β†’ Back to gold with this one.
  • Mooncakes β†’ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 β†’ πŸ”πŸ°πŸŒ»πŸŒˆπŸŒΊ β†’ Just as cute the second time!
  • Diana: Princess of the AmazonsΒ β†’ βββπŸ’« β†’ 🍰🌻 β†’ Eh… I’mΒ definitely not the target audience here.
  • Farmhand, Vol. 1Β β†’ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 β†’ πŸ”πŸ°πŸŒ» β†’ Even better than I remembered, and so ominous and strange!
  • Farmhand, Vol. 2Β β†’ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 β†’ πŸ”πŸ°πŸŒ» β†’ A great continuation. I gotta finish this series!

  • Get it RightΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ β†’ βœ¨πŸŒˆπŸ’ž β†’ A sweet, fun little f/f novella featuring a really cute fat love interest and a butch MC I adored.
  • The Truth Project β†’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ β†’ βœ¨πŸ“œπŸŒ»πŸŒˆ β†’ I gave this 4 stars at the time, but in hindsight, it’s very un-memorable. Might lower this to 3 later?
  • Gudetama: Surviving the HolidaysΒ β†’ ⭐⭐ β†’ ✨🍰 β†’ This was so boring.
  • Bear with MeΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ β†’ 🌻 β†’ Not super memorable, but really cute and it put some nice spins on the whole soul-mated paranormal romance trope.
  • In Love & PajamasΒ β†’ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 β†’ ✨🍰 β†’ I love Catana’s Comics forever. That is all.

  • Juliet Takes a BreathΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐ β†’ βœ¨πŸ°πŸŒ»πŸŒˆπŸ’ž β†’ Sometimes you find a book that should be great, but instead just infuriates you a little bit with all of its wasted potential. This was one of those.
  • Midnight SunΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐ β†’ I caved and borrowed it from the library. It wasn’tΒ good, but I’m happy I read it.
  • Wrapped Up in YouΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ β†’ πŸŒ»πŸŒˆπŸ’ž β†’ The first Talia Hibbert story I’ve ever given less than 5 stars, which hurts my heart a little. This was cute and sweet but honestly fell short in a LOT of ways…
  • Cradleland of ParasitesΒ β†’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ β†’ βœ¨πŸ“œ β†’ Creepy, gross, fun… but definitely not ideal timing for me, which is why it somehow took me over 2 months to finish this teeny-tiny poetry collection. My bad. πŸ™

Instead of making this post super long by adding in what I’ve been playing and watching lately, I’ll have a non-bookish wrap post coming soon to talk about some of the fun games I’ve played lately and what I’ve been streaming!

And if you read all of this, thanks so much for sticking around through the hiatus and the big changes around here. You’re a champ and I love ya. β™₯

Ugh slumps are the worst but 19 books is still great for 3 months, in fact thats probably more than I read in 3 months without a slump πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Nice to hear from you 😁

All of your 2 and 3 star rating comments reflect how my last month of reading felt tbh. I hope your reading slump gets a little easier in the new year. Glad to see you back! But don’t stress, consistency is overrated πŸ’•
