WWW #6: January 2, 2019—the first WWW of the year!

January 2, 2019

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It’s a meme that takes place every Wednesday, where the posters discuss 3 Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

My goal was to finish 2018 with no current reads, and I DID IT! Here’s what I’ve started in the new year:

  1. Darkest Hours — 50%
  2. The Traitor Prince — 10%

I mentioned in last week’s post that I was considering DNFing Unwind, and in the end… I did. 🙁 Here’s what I actually finished, though:

  1. The Tea Dragon Society ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  2. MPD Psycho, Vol. 1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  3. The Adventures of Charls, the Veretian Cloth Merchant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  4. Love Looks Pretty On You ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  5. Damaged Goods ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  6. The Lost Sisters ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  7. The Sea Was a Fair Master ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  8. Fragments of Horror ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  9. Colder, Vol. 1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  10. Savage Species ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I didn’t read much in the last week (almost all of these are short stories or graphic novels/manga), but as you can see, I gave all but one thing 5 stars, and even the exception got 4 stars, so I’d call that an amazing reading week!

I have a couple of buddy/group reads I need to get started on this week, but everything else I read will be coming from my Late-a-thon TBR jar! Here are the 2 buddy/group reads I need to start:

  1. Darkfever
  2. Stormdancer

And here are a few of the ARCs I’m hoping to pull from the TBR jar in the next week:

  1. An Anonymous Girl
  2. Binti
  3. Bones
  4. White Stag

Have you read any of the titles I mentioned in this post, or are any on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!

I enjoyed Binti but I was still a little let down by it. I’m curious what you’ll think!

I felt the same way. It was interesting but something felt a bit off. For such a short book it definitely packed in a lot of stoey4

Aww, I’m sorry you were a bit let down by it! Did you continue the series or do you think you will?

I might, but it’s low on the priority list right now 🙁

I knoooooow! 🙁 I’m still sad about it. I might have to try again some time. I just couldn’t get into it.

I have just started White Stag – I love the cover, but it has pretty mixed reviews. After two chapters I feel it could go either way 😉

It does have such a gorgeous cover! I’m really hoping I’ll like it but it’s one I’m going into a bit warily because I just have no idea what to expect. I hope you end up liking it!

Whoa, that is an epic ‘just finished’ list! I just finished White Stag, which is on your reading next list. I really enjoyed it! Gave it 5 stars! Happy reading!!

Thank you! Oh that’s awesome, I’m so glad to hear a rave review for White Stag 🙂

I think I’ve mentioned that I read Binti and I can’t wait to see what you think. 😀
I’m so happy that you loved The Tea Dragon Society! Since you did, I’d recommend Aquicorn Cove by the same author. It’s equally adorable and I think I might even have liked it better than the Tea Dragons. 😮

I enjoyed Binti last year! It was surprisingly sweet novella. I’m looking forward to the rest of the books!

I don’t have an arc of an anonymous girl but it was my December pick up botm and I hope to get to it soon. I did pick white stag out of my tbr jar and wanted to get to my earc soon. I hope to get to it as soon as I finish up a couple of things.
