WWW #5: December 26, 2018

December 26, 2018

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It’s a meme that takes place every Wednesday, where the posters discuss 3 Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

My goal this week was to knock out all of my pre-Shortathon reads, which sadly, didn’t quite happen: I’m still working on two of them.

  1. Unwind — 15%
  2. Savage Species — 49%

Unwind is one of my “unhaul challenge” books for December, which means if I don’t finish it by the end of the month, I have to DNF and unhaul it! Part of me thinks I’d better get to work, while the other part of me isn’t feeling too pressed to continue this book, much less the series. Thoughts?

Over the past week, I finished

  1. Zita the Spacegirl, #1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  2. Illuminae (reread) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  3. My Boyfriend is a Bear ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  4. Child of the Moon ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  5. Unfollowing You ⭐
  6. Waves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  7. Bone Parish, Vol. 1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  8. We Should All Be Feminists ⭐⭐⭐
  9. All Systems Red ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  10. Fence, Vol. 1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  11. Sour Candy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  12. Spill Zone ⭐⭐⭐
  13. Dead Lake ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  14. NOS4A2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As you can see, it was an AMAZING reading week for me! Way to go, Shortathon!

Shortathon doesn’t end until Monday night, so the majority of my next week will be dedicated to more short reads. I’ll keep using my TBR jar for the majority of them, but this is what’s left on my “must read” list for Shortathon:

  1. Lost Sisters
  2. Your Favorite Band Cannot Save You
  3. Love Looks Pretty On You
  4. The Adventures of Charls, the Veretian Cloth Merchant
  5. Damaged Goods
  6. Almost Midnight

Have you read any of the titles I mentioned in this post, or are any on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you! 😀 I’ve read one of the stories in another collection once and thought it was adorable at the time so I’m really excited to reread it and to read the other one!

I haven’t read Unwind, but I think my co-blogger likes the author’s other books much better than this one.

This is my first Shusterman book, and I ended up just DNFing it a few minutes ago when I realized I would rather unhaul it than continue it right now. It’s not bad writing, I think I just don’t care very much about the plot anymore, lol. But I’m very interested in his newest series and Dry!

Thank you! And I’m really excited for Lang’s new book – I might read it tonight. I just love her poetry so much. ♥

I haven’t read her poetry yet. I will surely read it next year.

14 books in a week?? I’m in awe!
And oooh, I still need to read The Lost Sisters too! Don’t think I’ll be able to get to it this month, but hopefully sometime in January before The Wicked King releases…
I hope you have another great reading week! 🙂

I’m commenting on this post inappropriately late, but HAVE YOU FINISHED UNWIND YET? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! ?

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 2, 2019 at 10:30 pm

Aww, sorry love… I DNFed it. 🙁 I just couldn’t get into it!

      • Reply Kelly Brigid January 5, 2019 at 10:21 am

Ah! My heart weeps!! I totally understand though. When one of my brothers read it, he couldn’t finish it either. It’s definitely a bit slow!! I hope you decide to check out some of Shusterman’s other works in the future (if you haven’t already!). ?

        • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries January 6, 2019 at 10:16 am

I knoooow, I was so sad! 🙁 But I 100% want to read more of his work, I’m mostly extremely interested in Scythe and Dry!

    Say hello! ♥
