WWW Wednesday: crunch time to finish those January goals!

January 26, 2022

It’s time for another WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It’s a meme that takes place every Wednesday, where the posters discuss 3 Ws:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What I’m currently reading:

Two of my current reads still haven’t changed. Whoops! I think I’m going to take the rest of the week off from work, though, because my anxiety has been a doozy lately and I need to rest, so I’m hoping that during my days off, I can make the time to finish up the rest of my January reading goals, including completing most of these (For the Wolf technically isn’t from my January TBR, so it’s the one I’m the most “okay” with carrying over to February).

for the wolf // hannah f. whitten
the shadow of the gods // john gwynne
dead silence // s.a. barnes

What I recently finished:

I didn’t get much reading done over the past week! In fact, yesterday was the day I finally missed a day in the StoryGraph January Pages Challenge and knocked myself out of the running for the giveaway. 😭 lmao, oh well, at least it’s mostly been a really good reading month!

weather girl // rachel lynn solomon
I still haven’t reviewed this or given it a final rating, but I really enjoyed it!

sweat and soap, vol. 11 // kintetsu yamada
That’s it, I finished the series. It was so damn good, right to the very last page. ♥

the fall of the house of usher // edgar allan poe
My mom and I were talking about this story (or, more specifically, about the retelling of this story that T. Kingfisher is releasing this year) and it made me realize I hadn’t re-read it in WAY too long. It was just as eerie as I remembered!

What I’ll read next:

I have a group discussion for Near the Bone this weekend, so I need to hurry!

near the bone // christina henry
gallant // v.e. schwab

What are you reading right now, or what did you recently finish? Let me know in the comments!

Oh, Dead Silence!! I have had my eyes on that one for a while, let me know what you thought of it~ Currently reading Dark Vanessa, making slow progress due to the subject matter, but it is a good book!

I just got Near The Bone for $5 on Audible!

Dead Silence is SO good so far! How did you end up liking My Dark Vanessa, or are you currently reading it? I’m looking forward to reading that, but haven’t quite gotten to it yet!

Yay! Fab to hear that~ I finished it and I loved it. It was hard to read (especially some of the descriptions), heart-breaking, but also gorgeously written. I couldn’t put it down. Would definitely recommend it~

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Gallant, I’m eager to read that one once its released!

I can’t wait to pick up Gallant! I decided to wait until I was more in the mood for it, which I am now, so I think it’s going to be the next thing I pick up after finishing one of my current reads!

I understand about needing to be in the mood for something! And yay! 😀 Exciting!

Thank you! How are your current reads going? Is From Blood and Ash a JLA book? I see that series all the time and really want to check it out!

I failed miserably at the StoryGraph challenge right from the get go because I was sick so I wasn’t reading.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 3, 2022 at 10:36 pm

Oh no, I’m sorry! I can’t blame you, though – you had such a valid reason to not feel up to daily reading! ♥

Thank you, Caro! I can’t wait to hear what you think of Weather Girl when you get to read it!! Please feel free to DM me ALL your thoughts when you read it haha!

Gallant is an anticipated read on my end as well.
I heard about Weather Girl and then the next day saw a movie on Netflix with a very similar plot line. it’s called Set it Up (2018). I will have to read Weather Girl, watch the movie and compare lol.

    • Reply Destiny @ Howling Libraries February 3, 2022 at 10:49 pm

That’s a great idea! I haven’t seen Set it Up yet, but now that you’ve said it’s on Netflix, I’m gonna have to add it to my watch list and check it out! 😀 I hope you enjoy the book AND the film.

    Say hello! ♥
