  • Nominate 5 (or more) people to share their emotional traumas
  • (Note: Try not to spoil the story for your readers in case they would like to check out these romances on their own)

My Choices:

maxresdefault.jpgJim and Pam Halpert – The Office (US; television show)

These two were an easy first pick for me, because my fiance and I are currently binge-watching The Office (my fourth or fifth time – his first time!), and I’m being reminded all over again of how nauseatingly adorable these two are together. I think my obsession with the “best friends become lovers” trope actually first spawned right on the set of this television show, because I am still a shameless sucker for besties falling for one another – especially when it’s a long, drawn out process like theirs was.

I went into ACOTAR during my first read-through of it knowing that Rhys would be an important character, but not knowing why, so as soon as we met him at Calanmai, I started watching him very closely, haha. I was 100% sold on his character by the time he admitted to having bet on Feyre against Amarantha’s wyrm, so you can imagine how much I was cheering for him throughout the rest of ACOTAR and the bulk of ACOMAF. I love what perfect equals these two are, and how much they respect and cherish one another. They are a team, and a damn good one at that – plus their banter always makes me smile.

Peeta-Katniss-Beach-scene-catching-fire-36044365-497-289.jpgKatniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark – The Hunger Games series (books & films)

The first time I read The Hunger Games, I immediately loved Peeta to bits and was totally “Team Peeta!” before the first book even ended. By the time the rest of the books released, and then the film adaptations? Total Katniss/Peeta trash. This is still one of my top OTPs in life and I just think they are so precious. I loved the casting choices for them in the movies, too, because I felt like Jennifer and Josh had such great chemistry together. Not gonna lie, I think they’re so damn cute that just writing this caption is making me itch to re-read the series and/or re-watch the films… AGAIN…

(Oh, by the way – Gale would’ve never worked. Katniss needed Peeta’s calm, not Gale’s rage. I will never ever EVER be convinced otherwise! *shakes fist*)

flower_crown_by_taratjah-day4bkv.jpgCress and Thorne – The Lunar Chronicles series (books)

I have only read the first three TLC books (and a few of the short stories), so I can’t say with absolute certainty, but I feel fairly confident in choosing Cresswell as my favorite TLC pairing. This series is chock full of adorable couples, really, but these two… gah. My heart. I honestly just grinned and “aww”ed and swooned throughout the bulk of Cress because watching these two get to know one another was just so damn cute. Cress is so sweet (I have such a weakness for the Rapunzel types – Tangled, anyone?), and Thorne’s witticisms are a delight, but watching him shift from “playboy troublemaker” into this sweet companion of hers was too gooey and precious for words.

As far as books-made-into-films go, TFIOS is by far one of my favorites. I loved Hazel and Gus while reading the book, but they didn’t solidify their spot in my list of favorite ships until I saw the movie. I was blown away by how perfectly Shailene and Ansel played these roles – they were absolutely what I had envisioned in my head, but better. These two are so adorable and fun together, and their love feels so authentic and beautiful that the ending was just gut-wrenchingly unfair. Honestly, I think part of why I love them so much is because of the brutal ending to their story. Call me a masochist, I guess, but I’m a sucker for star-crossed lovers, and these two are the modern definition of the trope.
