✨ pjo/hoo book tag ✨ beach read (adult romance review) ✨ june haul |
Can you believe I finally returned to booktube and posted not one, but TWO new videos?! And, if all goes according to plan, I’ll be posting two again in the coming week — I already have one filmed and it just needs editing, and the other, I’m hoping to film some time this week.

Someday, I swear I’ll finish some of these current reads!
- The Shadow of What Was Lost
- The Unsuitable
- The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
- Cinderella is Dead
- Beach Read
I’ve been working forever on The Shadow of What Was Lost and The Unsuitable, and have also been meaning to finish The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes for a few weeks. The audiobook is on Hoopla so I think I’ll borrow it this week and listen while gaming. I also want to finish Cinderella is Dead soon, as it’s been really good. And I started Beach Read a couple of days ago and am already a little bit obsessed!
⌛ set aside for now | ❌ permanent DNF | ? re-read
Not too much reading got done this week, sadly! It was a bit of a bad social media week for me and I spent way too much time doomscrolling, plus I had a few really bad anxiety/depression days. Ah well.
- The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- What Unbreakable Looks Like ⭐
- The Mime Order ?????
- Venus in the Blind Spot ⭐⭐⭐⭐
For the first time in a couple of months (I think), I decided to actually make a little list of goals for the week!
Mainly, Ellyn and I are starting a buddy read of My Dark Vanessa today, and I’m really excited. I’m also craving horror big time right now, so I’ll probably pick up two overdue anthology ARCs: Final Cuts: New Tales of Hollywood Horror and Other Spectacles, and Laughing at Shadows (a really brief horror/comedy collection).
- Finding Faeries
- Float Plan (unsolicited)
- Venus in the Blind Spot (READ)
Meh. A very up-and-down sort of week for mental health — I get really awful mood swings when my PMS rolls around, and it came a bit early this month so it caught me off-guard. ? I’m also a bit emotional because my kiddo’s birthday is tomorrow and he turns 4, and I’m just wondering HOW?! Where does the time go? Sigh…
I’ve spent WAY too much time on social media this month, though, so I re-installed a couple of productivity extensions/apps (Forest being my main one right now) and I’m hoping to stay offline as much as possible this week. I just want to focus on reading, getting my bookstagram back in action, and maybe a little Twitch streaming since I haven’t done that in a couple of weeks. I really want to start a new Stardew Valley farm on stream this week. ?
I hope you’re all having a good weekend and getting some much-needed rest. Let me know how you’re doing, what you’ve been up to, or even just what you’re reading/watching/playing today. ♥

I haven’t had a good reading week either. Heck I haven’t really had a good reading month. I’ve been fighting a reading slump for what feels like forever and I literally just finished my 4th book of the month.
I’m so sorry June was such a crummy reading month for you 🙁 I hope July is better!
Thank you!! I’m not feeling as slumping as I was feeling so hopefully thanks will be looking up from here on out. I hope you have a great July as well.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bit of a rough go of it. I can relate. Hopefully next week is better all around. This week for me I listened to some great audio books, Attica Locke’s Highway 59 series, two books so far. Really enjoyed those, especially after finishing The Name of All Things (I’m sorry if you’ve read and liked, but ugh…)
Social media can really mess with one’s head. I’ve been backed off of it for a bit now and I am no worse for wear.
Interesting that you didn’t like What Unbreakable Looks Like, not because I’ve read it yet but I see I added it to TBR after learning about it through you. I’d be curious to know how it failed? Perhaps you’ll thereby help me shave off some of my own list!
I keep hearing about Animal Crossing but have not played. Is it worth the hype and the time?
Best to you and the coming week!
I haven’t read that, so no worries, you’re not offending anyone here haha! I hope this past week was better for you, sorry for the late reply. And yes, Animal Crossing is 100% worth the hype! <3
The last thing I need is another game in my life… (*imagining what excuses to employ to get my hands into Animal Crossing………….lol…smh).
Enjoy your reading!

we are again in sync! i’m trying to stay off social media a bit more as well. i’m using the built-in iphone feature to limit my time on certain apps and switched where my social media apps sit and where my reading apps sit in the hopes that it’ll change my habits a bit. hopefully it works for you too! <3
That’s a great idea to switch your apps around tbh! I moved Twitter to a separate page a few pages away from my homepage and not having it in the “social” folder right there on my homepage has helped a lot. I wish Twitter had a separate DM app like Facebook does with Messenger, so I could just have the DMs and not the actual full Twitter experience. 😛 Then I could uninstall Twitter without feeling bad for constantly missing messages!
omg i agree fully!! i have really involved group chats on twitter that i don’t want to miss out on, but don’t want to get distracted by the rest of the app.
Now I want to start a new Stardew Valley farm!!
haha I have such a love/hate relationship with starting new farms! On one hand I hate losing the upgraded tools, horse, etc., but on the other hand it’s just so fun to start fresh!
